2026 BAL Season
The 2026 BAL season, also known as BAL Season 6, will be the 6th season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The playoffs and finals will be held in BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda, for a fifth time, as a result of a long-term agreement with the country. The winners will earn the right to play in the 2026 FIBA Intercontinental Cup. Al Ahli Tripoli were the previous champions, but have not yet qualified for the competition. Venues Under a long-term agreement between the Rwanda Development Board and the BAL, the playoffs and finals will be held in the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda, for a record fifth time. Qualification Qualified Teams Teams Petro de Luanda qualified for its sixth BAL season, a record for most appearances by any club. For the first time in league history, US Monastir did not represent Tunisia, as they lost to Club Africain in the Championnat Pro A finals. Basketball Africa League
The Basketball Africa League (BAL) is the premier men's basketball league in Africa. Founded in 2019, the league was established and is co-organized by NBA Africa and the FIBA, International Basketball Federation (FIBA). Each season typically runs from March to June, and in the current format of the league consists of twelve teams. Each of the teams qualify through their performance in their domestic competition. Seven teams qualify directly, while five others have to play in the Road to BAL. The group stage is divided into three conferences, which are followed by playoffs to determine the champions. The BAL champions of each season automatically qualify for the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. Club Africain () is a Tunisian professional basketball club from Tunis. The club competes in the Championnat Pro A, the top tier of professional basketball in Tunisia. The team has won the national championship five times, the last time being in 2025. Nigerian Premier League (basketball)
The Nigerian Premier Basketball League, often abbreviated to the NPL, is the pre-eminent men's professional basketball List of professional sports leagues, league in Nigeria. 2025 RBL Season
The 2025 RBL season will be the 48th season of the Rwanda Basketball League (RBL), and the 4th season of the league under its current name. The league is organized by the FERWABA. The regular season will begin on January 24, 2025, and ten teams will participate. APR are the defending champions, after having won the previous two championships. The champions of the RBL qualify directly for the 2026 BAL season. Team changes Azomco Global Flame was promoted as the champions of the Rwanda Basketball League Division 2. Keplerians were ineligible to promote, as it is a sister club of Kepler BBC, and thus Flame Basketball Club was given the promotion spot. Armée Patriotique Rwandaise Basketball Club, commonly known simply as APR, is a Rwandan basketball club based in Kigali. Owned and funded by the Ministry of Defence of Rwanda, the team plays in the Rwanda Basketball League (RBL) and in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) for the 2024 season. The 2025 Nationale 1 (N1) season was the 58th season of the Nationale 1 (NM1), the top-tier basketball league for men's teams in Senegal. ASC Ville De Dakar
ASC Ville de Dakar, commonly known as its abbreviation ASCVD, is a Senegalese basketball club based in Dakar. The team competes in the Nationale 1, the highest national level. The club was established in 1980, its men's team was founded in 2014. The men's team won its first championship in 2024, and will play in the 2025 BAL season. The women's team have won five national championships, between 2019 and 2024. 2023 BAL Season
The 2023 BAL season, also known as BAL Season 3, was the third season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The season began on 11 March 2023 and ended on 27 May 2023. The 2023 BAL Playoffs, playoffs were played in the BK Arena in Kigali, which hosted the final stage for a third season in a row. Al Ahly is an Egyptian basketball club of Al Ahly SC, located in Cairo, Cairo Governorate, that plays in the Egypt Basketball Super League. 2024 BAL Season
The 2024 BAL season, also known as BAL Season 4, was the 4th season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The season began on 9 March 2024 and ended with the final on 1 June 2024, which was played in the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda for a fourth consecutive season. This season the league was expanded to 48 games, and from two conferences to three conferences, as South Africa hosted the inaugural Kalahari Conference. The 2025 BAL season, also known as BAL Season 5, will be the 5th season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The season will begin on 5 April and end on 14 June 2025 with the final. The playoffs and finals will be held in Pretoria, South Africa, for the first time.
