Rick Pate (born April 6, 1955) is an American politician serving as the 30th Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries in Alabama. He previously served as mayor of Lowndesboro, Alabama from 2004 until his election as Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries in January 2019. He also served as chair of the Lowndes County Republican Party. Pate graduated from Auburn University School of Agriculture in 1978. He is married to Julie Dismukes and they have two children. The court was established in 1969 when what had been one unitary state Court of Appeals was broken into a criminal appeals court and a civil appeals court. Alabama Court Of Civil Appeals
The Alabama Court of Civil Appeals is one of two appellate courts in the Alabama judicial system. The court was established in 1969 when what had been one unitary state Court of Appeals was broken into a criminal appeals court and a civil appeals court. The unified Court of Appeals had been operative since 1911. The initial court's members were appointed by Governor Albert P. Brewer. The Alabama Public Service Commission, commonly called the PSC, was established by an act of the Alabama Legislature in 1915 to primarily replace the State Railroad Commission. The PSC's responsibility was expanded in 1920 to include regulating and setting rates that utility companies charge their customers for electricity. The legislature expanded the PSC's responsibilities in later years to include those companies that provide gas, water, and communications, as well as transportation common carriers such as trucking and air carriers. The PSC effectively determines the rate of profits that most of these companies are allowed to earn. Cynthia Lee Almond (born 1964/1965 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama) is an American attorney and politician serving as the president of the Alabama Public Service Commission. She previously served as a member of the Alabama House of Representatives from the 63rd district.
