2025 Speedway Grand Prix
The 2025 Speedway Grand Prix season will be the 31st season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, and will decide the 80th FIM Speedway World Championship. It will be the fourth series promoted by Discovery Sports Events. For the first time Great Britain will host two rounds of the championship. The original schedule showed the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester joining the flagship Principality Stadium in Cardiff on the calendar, but the Cardiff round was subsequently cancelled and replaced with a second grand prix in Manchester. There will be eight other rounds, with Poland's allocation reduced from four to three. Bartosz Zmarzlik is the defending champion having won the title in 2024. He will be aiming to equal Tony Rickardsson and Ivan Mauger's record of six world championships. Speedway Grand Prix
Speedway Grand Prix are a series of stand-alone motorcycle speedway events over the course of a season used to determine the Speedway World Champion. The series started in 1995 replacing the previous format of a single event final. The first winner was Hans Nielsen of Denmark. Event format The format for a Grand Prix changed for the 2007 season onwards. Sixteen riders take part in each Grand Prix and over the course of twenty heats each rider will race against every other rider once. The top eight scorers advance to a semi-final and from each semi-final the 1st and 2nd placed riders will advance to the GP final. In this format all rides counted towards Grand Prix points totals, including the semi-final and final, the maximum points for a single GP is 21 (5x heat wins, semi final win and final win). 2024 Speedway European Championship
The 2024 Speedway European Championship season is the 12th season of the Speedway European Championship (SEC) era, and the 24th Individual Speedway European Championship. Qualification The top five riders from the 2023 Speedway European Championship will be joined by five riders who qualified through the SEC Challenge. Another five permanent series riders were picked by the SEC Commission. These 15 permanent riders will then be joined at each SEC Final by one wildcard and two track reserves. Anders Thomsen (born 1 January 1994) is an international speedway rider from Denmark and twice Danish champion. Speedway career Thomsen became champion of Denmark, winning the Danish Championship in 2020. He rode in the second tier of British Speedway from 2013–2016, riding for Glasgow Tigers and Peterborough Panthers. In 2020, he won a bronze medal at the 2020 Speedway of Nations and in 2021, he won the Danish title for the second time and was awarded a permanent wildcard for the 2021 Speedway Grand Prix. Brady Kurtz (born 27 September 1996) is an Australian speedway rider. Biography Born in Cowra, New South Wales, Kurtz isn't the only racer in his family. Brady's older brother Todd Kurtz is a fellow Speedway rider, who has ridden for the Plymouth Devils amongst other teams in the UK. Jack Holder (born 23 March 1996) in Appin, New South Wales is an Australian speedway rider currently riding for Sheffield Tigers in the British Elite League and Apator Toruń in the Polish Ekstraliga. Martin Vaculík (born 5 April 1990) is a Slovak motorcycle speedway rider who is riding for the Stal Gorzów Wielkopolski in the Polish Speedway Ekstraliga.
