The 2025 Rugby Premier League is the first season of the Rugby Premier League. It was held from 15 to 29 June 2025 with 6 city-based teams. History In April 2025, the six teams were announced: Bengaluru Bravehearts, Chennai Bulls, Delhi Redz, Hyderabad Heroes, Kalinga Black Tigers and Mumbai Dreamers. World Rugby granted RPL a 15-day window, ensuring no other rugby sevens tournaments took place during this period. This allowed participation of some of the biggest names in the sport. A lineup of 30 marquee international players from rugby powerhouse nations were bought during the auction. The broadcasting and streaming rights were sold to Star Sports (India), Star Sports and JioHotstar. Renowned coaches Mike Friday, Ben Gollings, DJ Forbes, Tomasi Cama, Francisco Hernández (rugby union), Francisco Hernández, and Tim Walsh (rugby union), Tim Walsh were roped in for the league. Junior Tomasi Cama
Tomasi Cama (born 11 November 1980) is a New Zealand former rugby union player. He played for Manawatu in the Air New Zealand Cup, and the New Zealand Sevens team. Cama won the 2012 World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year Award. He is currently the Head Coach of the All Blacks Sevens. He is the son of former Fiji sevens player Tomasi Cama. Playing career Manawatu Cama moved to New Zealand to pursue a rugby career in 1999. He started out in the Manawatu Colts in 2001 having a strong season and earning a spot in the Manawatu Development Squad in 2002. Alexander "Alex" Davis (born 3 October 1992) is an English rugby union player. He plays for the Great Britain national rugby sevens team having previously represented the England national rugby sevens team. Early and personal life Davis was born in Gloucester but grew up in Bristol, where he attended Queen Elizabeth's Hospital school in Clifton. Scott Curry (born 17 May 1988) is a New Zealand professional rugby union player who plays as a forward for the New Zealand national sevens team.
