2025 Rugby Championship
The 2025 Rugby Championship is set to be the fourteenth edition of the annual Southern Hemisphere rugby union competition, involving Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. South Africa are the defending champions and kick off the tournament against Australia on 16 August. The three traditional unions, also known as the Tri-Nations ( SANZAR), announced their 2025 home fixtures in November and December 2024. A notable fixture is set to be played between Argentina and South Africa in the final round at Twickenham Stadium in London, exactly one week after the 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup Final. It is the second time a Rugby Championship match has been played at Twickenham Stadium, after the Argentina/Australia test in 2016. The Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes, formerly known as Estadio Córdoba, is a stadium in the Chateau Carreras neighborhood of Córdoba, Argentina. Owned by the Córdoba Province, the venue is used mostly for association football and rugby union matches and also sometimes for athletics. The stadium was built in 1976 in preparation for the 1978 FIFA World Cup, with a capacity for 37,851 spectators although it doesn't provide seating for all of them, like many Argentine stadiums. The South African Rugby Union (SARU) is the governing body for rugby union in South Africa and is affiliated to World Rugby. Ellis Park Stadium (known as Emirates Airline Park for sponsorship reasons) is a rugby union and association football stadium in Johannesburg, Gauteng Province, South Africa. South Africa Standard Time
South African Standard Time (SAST) is the time zone used by all of South Africa as well as Eswatini and Lesotho. The zone is two hours ahead of UTC ( UTC+02:00) and is the same as Central Africa Time. Daylight saving time is not observed in either time zone. Solar noon in this time zone occurs at 30° E in SAST, effectively making Pietermaritzburg at the correct solar noon point, with Johannesburg and Pretoria slightly west at 28° E and Durban slightly east at 31° E. Thus, most of South Africa's population experience true solar noon at approximately 12:00 daily. The western Northern Cape and Western Cape differ, however. World Rugby Nations Championship
The World Rugby Nations Championship is a planned biennial international men's rugby union competition, which is scheduled to take place in the existing men's mid-year and end-of-year international windows in even-numbered years, with the inaugural edition set to take place in 2026. The competition will consist of twelve teams, involving the current Six Nations (England, France, Italy, Ireland, Scotland and Wales) and SANZAAR (Argentina, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand) unions, in addition to two unknown invited unions (widely reported to be Fiji and Japan, coincidentally the remaining two automatic qualifiers by 2023 pool standings for the 2027 Men's Rugby World Cup).
