2025 PointsBet Invitational
The 2025 PointsBet Invitational curling tournament will be held from October 1 to 5 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta. The event will feature twenty Canadian teams and will be the first major event of the 2025–26 season. In a change of format, the event will be played in a round-robin tournament with the top team in each pool advancing to the final. The winning team on both the men's and women's side will receive $35,000 each. Qualification With the change in format from a single-knockout to a round robin, the field was reduced from sixteen to ten teams. The seven teams qualified for the 2025 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials all received invitations, while the final three spots were filled by the top ranked non-qualified team, the top ranked non-qualified Under-27 team and the winners of the 2025 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Selena Sturmay (born June 21, 1998) is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. She currently skips her own team out of the Saville Community Sports Centre. Career Sturmay made her first appearance at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships in 2016, skipping her team of Dacey Brown, Megan Moffat and Hope Sunley out of Airdrie. She qualified for the national championship by making a runback double takeout to defeat Kayla Skrlik in the championship game. Beth Peterson (born March 1, 1994) is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She currently skips her own team out of the Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club in Winnipeg. Career Peterson won the 2015 Manitoba Junior provincial championship skipping her team of Robyn Njegovan, Melissa Gordon and Breanne Yozenko. At the 2015 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, they finished in fifth place with a 6–4 record. The following season, her team began competing on the World Curling Tour and finished runner-up at the 2015 Mother Club Fall Curling Classic. Kayla Skrlik (born September 10, 1997) is a Canadian curler from Calgary, Alberta. She currently skips her own team out of the Garrison Curling Club. Career Skrlik broke onto the junior scene when she skipped Team Alberta at the 2016 U18 International Curling Championships. There, she led her team to a 3–2 round robin record, just missing the playoffs. She represented Alberta at her first junior nationals at the 2018 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Kaitlyn Lawes
Lesley Kaitlyn Lawes (born December 16, 1988) is a Canadian curler. Lawes was the long time third for the Jennifer Jones team that represented Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics where they won the gold medal. They were the first women's team to go through the Olympics undefeated and the first Manitoba based curling team to win at the Olympics. Lawes curled with John Morris in the mixed doubles event at the 2018 Winter Olympics where they won gold. Corryn Cecile Brown (born July 19, 1995) is a Canadian curler from British Columbia. She currently skips her own team out of Kamloops. Career She was the skip of the winning team at the 2013 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, and represented Canada at the 2013 World Junior Curling Championships, where she placed 9th. Christina Black (born October 21, 1987) is a Canadian curler from Halifax, Nova Scotia. She currently skips her own team out of the Halifax Curling Club. Career Women's Black joined Team Mary-Anne Arsenault for the 2014–15 season at third. The team, along with second Jane Snyder and lead Jennifer Baxter, won two tour events early in the season, the Dave Jones Molson Mayflower Cashspiel and the Gibson's Cashspiel.
