2025 Philadelphia Slam
The 2025 Philadelphia Slam was an outdoor track and field meeting held from May 31 – June 1 2025 in Franklin Field, Philadelphia, United States. It was the third meet of the 2025 Grand Slam Track season, the debut season of Michael Johnson's Grand Slam Track league. This meeting had a condensed schedule compared to the 2 previous meetings, moving from a 3-day event to a 2-day event. Another change occurred in the long distance category for both men and women, which was changed to be single race, with athletes now only running the 3000 metres for half the prize money. Diribe Welteji Kejelcha (born 13 May 2002) is an Ethiopian middle-distance runner. She won the silver medal in the 1500 metres at the 2023 World Championships and placed fourth in the 800 metres at the 2022 World Championships. At age 16, Welteji won the 800 m at the 2018 World U20 Championships, breaking the championship record in the process. She took silver for the 1500 metres at the 2021 World U20 Championships. Cordell Tinch
Cordell Tinch (born 13 July 2000) is an American track and field athlete who competes primarily over 110 m hurdles. Early life Tinch grew up in Chicago and then Green Bay, Wisconsin where he attended Bay Port High School. As a junior, he competed in track and field events and won the State title in triple jump with a state record 14.99m, and won a long jump victory whilst being runner-up in the high jump and 110m hurdles. He also played basketball, but his main focus was on football, and on reaching the NFL. He attended University of Minnesota on a football scholarship. Ultimately, he decided football wasn’t the path he wished to follow, and he switched to Pittsburg State University in 2019. However, there was an issue with the transfer and he couldn’t compete in the national events. 110 Metres Hurdles
The 110 metres hurdles, or 110-metre hurdles, is a hurdling track and field event for men. It is included in the athletics (sport), athletics programme at the Summer Olympic Games. The female counterpart is the 100 metres hurdles. As part of a racing event, ten hurdles of in height are evenly spaced along a straight course of 110 metres. They are positioned so that they will fall over if bumped into by the runner. Fallen hurdles do not carry a fixed time penalty for the runners, but they have a significant pull-over weight which slows down the run. The 200 metres, or 200-meter dash, is a sprint running event. On an outdoor 400-metre racetrack, the race begins on the curve and ends on the home straight, so a combination of techniques is needed to successfully run the race. A slightly shorter race, called the '' stadion'' and run on a straight track, was the first recorded event at the ancient Olympic Games. The 200 m places more emphasis on speed endurance than shorter sprint distances as athletes predominantly rely on anaerobic energy system during the 200 m sprint. Similarly to other sprint distances, the 200 m begins from the starting blocks. Christian Miller (born 16 May 2006) is an American track and field athlete who competes as a sprinter. In July 2023, he ran 10.06 seconds for the 100 metres, an List of world under-18 bests in athletics, U18 World Record. The following season, he lowered his personal best to 9.93 seconds. Aaron Brown (born 27 May 1992) is a Canadian sprinter who specializes in the 100 and 200 metres. As part of Canada's 4 × 100 m relay team, he is the 2024 Olympic gold medalist, 2020 Olympic silver medalist, 2016 Olympic bronze medalist and the 2022 World champion. Udodi Chudi Onwuzurike (born 29 January 2003) is a sprinter who specializes in the 200 metres. Born in the United States, he represents Nigeria internationally.
