2025 Palarong Pambansa
The 2025 Palarong Pambansa, officially known as the 65th Palarong Pambansa, was a multi-sport event held in Laoag, Ilocos Norte in 2025. Student-athletes from 20 athletic associations consisting the 17 regions of the Philippines, the National Academy of Sports, and the Philippine Schools Overseas competed in different sporting events and disciplines. The National Capital Region was the eighteenth straight general champions. Hosting The Ilocos Norte was confirmed to be the host the 2025 Palarong Pambansa as early as 2023. Venues The following are the playing venues for the games. The Games Opening ceremony The opening of the games was held on May 24, 2025 at the Marcos Stadium in Laoag. It was opened by Philippine president Bongbong Marcos. The event started with the "Parada ng mga Atleta" where all delegates participated in a parade along Rizal Street and Sirib Mile in Laoag. Laoag
Laoag (), officially the City of Laoag (; ), is a component city and capital of the province of Ilocos Norte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 111,651 people. Bacarra, officially the Municipality of Bacarra (; ) is a municipality in the province of Ilocos Norte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 33,496 people. Biag Ni Lam-ang
''Biag ni Lam-ang'' () is an epic story of the Ilocano people from the Ilocos region of the Philippines. It is notable for being the first Philippine folk epic to be recorded in written form, and was one of only two folk epics documented during the Philippines' Spanish Colonial period, along with the Bicolano epic of Handiong. It is also noted for being a folk epic from a "Christianized" lowland people group (the Ilocano people), with elements incorporated into the storytelling. As oral literature, the poem is believed to have originated in pre-colonial times, evolving as it is passed on from poet to poet and generation to generation. Vintar
Vintar, officially the Municipality of Vintar (; ), is a municipality in the province of Ilocos Norte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 33,339 people. Vintar is the largest municipality in Ilocos Norte by land area. Its patron saint is Saint Nicholas de Tolentino. It is home to one of the biggest convents in the province, which also hosts the Saint Nicholas Academy. Sarrat
Sarrat, officially the Municipality of Sarrat (; ), is a municipality in the province of Ilocos Norte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 25,186 people. The town is known as the birthplace of Ferdinand Marcos, the 10th President of the Philippines; and for Sarrat Church - the largest church in the province, the church with the longest nave in the country, and is designated as an Important Cultural Property of the Philippines. Piddig
Piddig, officially the Municipality of Piddig (; ) is a municipality in the province of Ilocos Norte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 22,475 people. The town is known for its role in the Basi Revolt which was led by Pedro Mateo, a native of Piddig. Today, Piddig is known for its '' basi'' and for their ''sariwagwag'', a dish made out of ''gabi'' leaves with fresh shrimps that are freshly gathered from their rich river. The ''municipio'' (town hall) is located on top of a hill offering panoramic views of fields and mountains. Dingras
Dingras, officially the Municipality of Dingras (; ), is a municipality in the province of Ilocos Norte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 40,127 people distributed over 31 barangays. Etymology The Legend of Dingras Legend has it that in the early times, there were two prosperous barangays in the present site of the town - each ruled by a powerful chief or datu. They were bitter and mortal enemies. Naslag was the powerful chief of the barangay north of the river, while Allawigan was the chief of the barangay to the south of the river.
