2025 Ontario Tankard
The 2025 Men's Ontario Curling Championship, better known as the Ontario Tankard was held from January 19 to 26 at Cobourg Community Centre in Cobourg, Ontario, Cobourg, Ontario. It serves as the provincial men's curling championship for Southern Ontario. The winning Sam Mooibroek rink will represent Ontario at the 2025 Montana's Brier, Canada's national men's curling championship in Kelowna, British Columbia. The event was held in conjunction with the 2025 Ontario Women's Curling Championship, the provincial women's championship. Both events are held together in non-Winter Olympic years. Cobourg was chosen as the host community in June 2024. It last hosted the Tankard 2017 Ontario Tankard, in 2017. Qualification process Twelve teams will qualify for the 2025 Ontario Tankard. Scott Chadwick
Scott Chadwick (born January 16, 1991) is a Canadian curler from Napanee, Ontario. In 2021, he competed at the 2021 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. Career While at Queen's University at Kingston, Chadwick won the 2010 CIS/CCA Curling Championships and placed fifth the following year at the 2011 Winter Universiade in Erzurum, Turkey. Chadwick would later team up with Greg Balsdon and capture the 2016 GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 2. In 2019, along with Scott McDonald, Jonathan Beuk and Wesley Forget, he represented Ontario at the 2019 Tim Hortons Brier where they finished with a 6–5 record. Patrick "Pat" Janssen (born May 12, 1987) is a Canadian curler from Burlington, Ontario. Career Youth Janssen skipped the University of Toronto men's curling team at the 2010 CIS/CCA Curling Championships, finishing with a 4–3 record. In 2005 he won the provincial schoolboy championship playing for his high school, Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate Institute. Men's Janssen joined the Mark Kean rink in 2010, playing second on the team. Travis Mitchell Fanset (born July 26, 1991) is a Canadian curler from Tillsonburg, Ontario. A former Canadian junior runner-up, he currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. Career Fanset and his rink of Craig Van Ymeren, Geoff Chambers and Christopher Jay won the 2008 Ontario Junior Curling Championships, defeating Neil Sinclair in the provincial final. Brent Ross (born September 30, 1970) is a Canadian curler from Harriston, Ontario. He currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. Career Early in his career, Ross won the Ontario Colts Championship in 1997. Ross skipped his own rink on the World Curling Tour until 2007, when he joined the Jake Higgs rink, playing third on the team for the 2007–08 season, and then throwing fourth rocks (with Higgs throwing third) until 2014. Career Rooney and teammates Matthew Prenevost, Kevin Genjaga, Benjamin Lobo competed in the 2019 Ontario U-21 Curling Championships, finishing with a 3–4 record. Jonathan Beuk
Jonathan Beuk (born April 18, 1983) is a Canadian curler from Kingston, Ontario. Career While attending Queen's University, Beuk led his team of Andrew Inouye, Chadd Vandermade and Scott Chadwick to a gold medal at the 2010 CIS/CCA Curling Championships, Canada's University curling championship. The team represented Canada at the 2011 Winter Universiade, where they missed out on the playoffs, finishing with a 6–3 record. The Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS) is a point system used by Curling Canada to rank men's and women's curling teams across Canada. They are determined through points earned in various curling bonspiels held worldwide throughout the season. CTRS points are the basis of the World Curling Tour's Order of Merit and are also used as criteria in identifying teams that qualify for the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials.
