2025 North Carolina Tar Heels Football Team
The 2025 North Carolina Tar Heels football team will represent the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) during the 2025 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Tar Heels will be led by first-year head coach Bill Belichick. The team will play their home games at Kenan Stadium. Following the firing of head coach Mack Brown after six seasons in charge, assistant Freddie Kitchens was elevated to interim head coach. On December 11, 2024, Bill Belichick, former head coach of the NFL's New England Patriots, was hired as the 35th head coach in North Carolina program history. Brian Belichick is an American football coach who is the current safeties coach for North Carolina. He previously worked in the New England Patriots organization from 2016 until the end of the 2024 season. Early years Belichick played lacrosse at The Rivers School and Suffield Academy where he was an All-League selection in football and lacrosse. He then played two years of collegiate lacrosse at Trinity College, graduating in 2016. Charlton Warren (born January 17, 1977) is an American college football coach who is currently co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at North Carolina State University. Prior to entering the coaching ranks, Warren served in the United States Air Force. Michael Priefer (born August 21, 1966) is an American football coach currently serving as the special teams coordinator for the North Carolina Tar Heels. Previously, he served as the special teams coordinator for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL). He has had two decades of pro coaching experience.
