2025 Kelly Cup Playoffs
The 2025 Kelly Cup playoffs of the ECHL hockey league began on April 16, 2025, following the conclusion of the 2024–25 ECHL regular season and ended on June 7 with the Trois-Rivières Lions winning their first Kelly Cup championship over the Toledo Walleye in five games. Playoff format Since all 29 teams were able to complete all 72 games this season, the league went back to the points system, instead of the point percentage that was used the year prior. The top 4 teams in each division qualified for the playoffs based on highest point total earned in the season. The first two rounds of the playoffs are held within the division with the first seed facing the fourth seed and the second seed facing the third. The division champions then play each other in a conference championship. The Kelly Cup finals pits the Eastern Conference champion against the Western Conference champion. Jon Gillies
Jonathan Bruce Gillies (born January 22, 1994) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender currently playing for the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL. He has previously played in the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career As a youth, Gillies played in the 2007 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the Middlesex Islanders minor ice hockey team, along with teammates Matt Grzelcyk and Miles Wood. Gillies played collegiate hockey with the Providence Friars in the NCAA Men's Division I Hockey East conference. Norfolk Scope
Norfolk Scope is a multi-function complex in Norfolk, Virginia, comprising the 11,000-seat Scope Arena, a 2,500-seat theater known as Chrysler Hall, a modular exhibition hall, and a 600-car parking garage. The arena was designed by Italian architect/engineer Pier Luigi Nervi in conjunction with the (now defunct) local firm Williams and Tazewell, which designed the entire complex. WesBanco Arena (originally Wheeling Civic Center) is a multi-purpose arena located in Wheeling, West Virginia. It was built in 1977 at a cost of $7 million. It is home to the Wheeling Nailers ice hockey team, the Wheeling Miners indoor football team, the Mountain East Conference basketball tournament and the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference wrestling tournament. Santander Arena
The Santander Arena (formerly known as the Sovereign Center) is a 7,160-seat multi-purpose arena, in Reading, Pennsylvania. It was built in 2001. The arena sits on the former site of the Astor Theater; one of several grand movie and theater palaces built in Reading in the early 20th century. Closed in 1975, the theater sat vacant for over two decades. In 1998, the Astor was demolished to make room for the Santander Arena. Early in construction, steps were taken to retain mementos of the Astor, including its ornate Art Deco chandelier and gates. The Tulsa Oilers are a professional ice hockey team based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and play in the ECHL.
