2025 European Darts Trophy
The 2025 European Darts Trophy, known as the 2025 Elten Safety Shoes European Darts Trophy for sponsorship reasons, was a professional darts tournament that took place at the Lokhalle in Göttingen, Germany from 21–23 March 2025. It was the second of fourteen PDC European Tour events on the 2025 PDC Pro Tour. It featured a field of 48 players and £175,000 in prize money, with £30,000 going to the winner. Michael van Gerwen was the defending champion after defeating James Wade 8–3 in the final of the last edition of the event, which was in 2018 European Darts Trophy, 2018. However, he lost 7–5 to Ryan Joyce in the semi-finals. Nathan Aspinall won his first European Tour title by defeating Joyce 8–4 in the final. Ryan Joyce (born 20 September 1985) is an English professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events, where he is currently ranked world number twenty-six. A PDC Tour Card holder since 2018, he has won two ranking titles in Players Championship events. Nicknamed "Relentless", Joyce has made two PDC major semi-finals: in the 2023 Players Championship Finals and 2024 World Grand Prix, as well as being a finalist on the European Tour at the 2025 European Darts Trophy. Dirk van Duijvenbode (born 30 June 1992) is a Dutch professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is known for his energetic walk-on, combined with hardstyle music. More recently, he has become known for his job on an aubergine farm, which has led to him having the nickname 'Aubergenius'. Boris Krčmar (born 13 September 1979) is a Croatian professional steel-tip and soft-tip darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He dominated soft-tip darts for over a decade. Martin Lukeman (born 26 March 1985) is an English professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He was the runner-up at the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts. The 2024 Grand Slam of Darts (known for sponsorship reasons as the 2024 Mr Vegas Grand Slam of Darts) was a professional darts tournament that was held at Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton, England from 9–17 November 2024. It was the eighteenth staging of the Grand Slam of Darts organised by the Professional Darts Corporation. Luke Humphries was the defending champion, having defeated Rob Cross 16–8 in the 2023 final. He was eliminated in the group stage, after losing his first two matches. Michael van Gerwen was eliminated in the group stage for the first time since 2010, while 2022 champion Michael Smith was also unable to qualify from his group, meaning all former champions present at the tournament were eliminated before the knockout stage. The 2024 European Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Machineseeker European Championship), was the seventeenth edition of the Professional Darts Corporation's European Championship tournament, which saw the top players from the thirteen European tour events compete against each other. The tournament took place from 24 to 27 October 2024 at the Westfalenhallen in Dortmund, Germany. Peter Wright was the defending champion after defeating James Wade 11–6 in the 2023 final.
