2025 Chennai Open
The 2025 Chennai Open will be the second edition of the WTA Indian Open, Chennai Open and the first WTA tournament on India since 2022, when the first edition of this tournament was held, marking the end of a three year hiatus. This tournament will be part of the 2025 WTA Tour, 2025 WTA Tour season on the WTA 250, 250 category and is expected to take place on the week of 27 October 2025. It will be played on outdoor hardcourts. Czech player Linda Fruhvirtová and Brazilian-Canadian duo Luisa Stefani/ Gabriela Dabrowski are the tournament’s defending singles and doubles champions, respectively. The 2025 Chennai Open Challenger was a professional tennis tournament played on hardcourt, hard courts. It was the fifth edition of the tournament which was part of the 2025 ATP Challenger Tour. WTA Tour
The WTA Tour (also known as the Hologic WTA Tour for sponsorship reasons) is a worldwide top-tier tennis tour for women and organized by the Women's Tennis Association. The second-tier tour is the WTA 125 series, and third-tier is the ITF Women's World Tennis Tour. The men's equivalent is the ATP Tour. Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent (singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket strung with a cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. Chennai, also known as Madras ( its official name until 1996), is the capital and largest city of Tamil Nadu, the southernmost state of India.
