2025 British Speedway Championship
The 2025 British Speedway Championship (sponsored by Attis Insurance) was the 65th edition of the British Speedway Championship. Dan Bewley was the defending champion having won the title in 2024. The competition consisted of one semi-final and a final, with six riders qualifying from the semi-final and 10 riders seeded to the final. The seeded riders were Dan Bewley, Tom Brennan, Charles Wright, Danny King, Chris Harris, Steve Worrall, Adam Ellis, Anders Rowe, Kyle Howarth and Robert Lambert. The semi-final was held at Beaumont Park Stadium, Leicester, on Thursday 1 May and the six riders who qualified for the final were Dan Thompson, Drew Kemp, Leon Flint, Dan Gilkes, Lewis Kerr and Craig Cook but Gilkes and Kerr both missed the final through injury (as did seeded rider Kyle Howarth). British Speedway Championship
The British Speedway Championship is an annual motorcycle speedway competition open to British national speedway riders. The winner of the event becomes the British Speedway Champion. History Inaugurated in 1961 as a qualifying round of the Speedway World Championship it was open to riders from Britain and the British British Dominions, dominions. It was initially dominated by riders from New Zealand such as Barry Briggs and Ivan Mauger because of the British Final forming part of the World Speedway championship qualifying rounds. Briggs and Mauger were multiple world champions. It was not until 1975 that the final was restricted to British riders. Countries such as Australia and New Zealand then held their own World Individual Speedway championship qualifying rounds. Connor Reece Mountain (born 26 August 1997) is a motorcycle speedway rider from England. Career Mountain began his British speedway career riding for Coventry Bees in 2015. In 2018, he won the silver medal behind Robert Lambert in the British Speedway Under 21 Championship. In 2021, he rode in the top tier of British Speedway, riding for the King's Lynn Stars in the SGB Premiership in addition to riding for the Newcastle Diamonds in the SGB Championship. In 2022, he rode for the Sheffield Tigers in the Premiership and for the Leicester Lions in the Championship. He helped Sheffield win the League cup and reach the Play off final. Ben Trigger (born 27 May 2006) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Plymouth England. Career In 2021, he won the British 500cc Youth Championship and signed for the Leicester Lion Cubs for the 2021 National Development League speedway season. In 2022, he signed for Plymouth Centurions for the 2022 National Development League speedway season. He missed some of the season after fracturing his tibia. After a successful season (despite the injury) Trigger gained a call up to the Plymouth first team and was named in their seven starters for the SGB Championship 2023. An ace is a playing card, die or domino with a single pip. Jake Mulford (born 4 March 2004) is an English speedway rider. Career In 2019, he signed for the Kent Kings for the 2019 National Development League speedway season. Unable to ride during 2020 because of COVID-19 cancelled season, he continued to ride for Kent in 2021 but appeared in both the NDL and the higher league of the SGB Championship 2021. In 2022, he was named the number 8 rider for the King's Lynn Stars in the SGB Premiership 2022 (the highest league in Britain). Sir William Wellington Cairns, (3 March 1828 – 7 July 1888) was a British colonial administrator. He was the Governor of Queensland and the Governor of Trinidad. Early life Cairns was born in Belfast, Ireland on 3 March 1828 (as indicated on his grave stone).
