2025 BetMGM 300
The 2025 BetMGM 300 was the 13th stock car race of the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series, and the 44th iteration of the event. The race was held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, in Concord, North Carolina at Charlotte Motor Speedway, a 1.5 miles (2.4 km) permanent asphalt tri-oval shaped intermediate speedway. The race was originally scheduled to be contested over 200 laps, but was increased to 205 due to an overtime finish. In a wreck-filled race that occurred in the final stage, William Byron, driving for Hendrick Motorsports, would survive numerous late-race restarts and took advantage of newer tires, making a late race pass on Justin Allgaier with two laps to go to earn his fifth career NASCAR Xfinity Series win, and his first of the season. Charlotte Motor Speedway
Charlotte Motor Speedway (known as Lowe's Motor Speedway from 1999 to 2009 due to sponsorship reasons) is a quad-oval Oval track racing#Intermediate, intermediate speedway in Concord, North Carolina. It has hosted various major races since its inaugural season of racing in 1960, including NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA SportsCar Championship races. Green–white–checkered Finish
In North American auto racing, a green–white–checker finish (GWC) is a racing restart procedure in which the race is restarted from a caution period with 2 laps remaining. When the race distance is extended to accommodate such a finish, it is also sometimes known as an overtime finish. The name alludes to three racing flags: * Green flag: shown to start or restart the race * White flag: shown at the start of the last lap * Checkered flag: shown at the finish of the race The prescribed number of final laps is usually two. If a caution flag is shown within the specified number of laps of the scheduled finish, then the number of remaining laps will not be decremented until the green flag is shown again. Sheldon Michael Creed (born September 30, 1997) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 00 Ford Mustang (seventh generation), Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Haas Factory Team. Born in Alpine, California, Creed grew up competing in short course off-road racing, winning championships in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) and Stadium Super Trucks (SST). Ollen Bruton Smith (March 3, 1927 – June 22, 2022) was an American motorsports executive and businessman. He was best known as the owner of two public companies, Speedway Motorsports, Inc. (SMI) and Sonic Automotive. Smith held the positions of vice president and general manager of the Charlotte Motor Speedway and later was the chief executive officer (CEO) of both Speedway Motorsports and Sonic Automotive. He was an entrepreneur, race promoter, and businessman during the rise of stock car racing that began in the 1950s. Smith was born and raised near Oakboro, North Carolina. In 1959, he and stock car racing driver Curtis Turner partnered to construct the Charlotte Motor Speedway, a banked racetrack in Concord, North Carolina. A dragstrip is a facility for conducting automobile and motorcycle acceleration events such as drag racing. Although a quarter mile (1320 feet, 402 m) is the best known measure for a drag track, many tracks are eighth mile (201 m) tracks, and the premiere classes will run 1,000 foot (304.8 m) races. The race is begun from a standing start which allows three factors to affect the outcome of the race: reaction time, power/weight ratio, and traction.
