2024–25 SVNS
The 2024–25 SVNS is the 26th annual series of rugby sevens tournaments for national sevens teams, known as the SVNS. It will take place between November 2024 and June 2025. The SVNS has been run by World Rugby since 1999. Teams and format There are three changes from the 2023–24 season, Kenya and Uruguay men won promotion at the 2024 Spain Sevens, 2024 Grand Finals in Madrid, which also saw China women promoted. Canada and Samoa men as well as South Africa women were relegated. The tournament takes place over seven months and consists of seven events, with the final event holding the top eight-placed teams in a Grand final, Grand Final event. The teams placed between nine–twelve will compete in a promotion/relegation-style event with other teams to decide which stay as core teams. Rugby sevens (commonly known simply as sevens, and originally seven-a-side rugby) is a variant of rugby union in which teams are made up of seven players playing seven-minute halves, instead of the usual 15 players playing 40-minute halves.
