2024–25 Saudi Pro League
The 2024–25 Saudi Pro League (known as the Roshn Saudi League for sponsorship reasons) is the 49th edition of the Saudi Professional League, the top Saudi professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1976. Al-Hilal are the defending champions, having won their record-extending 19th title last season. Al-Kholood, Al-Orobah, and Al-Qadsiah join as the three promoted clubs. They replaced Abha, Al-Hazem, and Al-Tai who were relegated to the 2024–25 Saudi First Division League. Overview Changes Starting this season, each club can have a total of 30 players with ten foreigners, eight of them can be at any age and two must be under 21 at the time of signing; 20 Saudi players with 15 of them can be at any age and five can be called up from the youth sectors if needed or wanted. The Saudi Pro League (SPL for short) ( ar, دوري المحترفين السعودي, link=no, ''Dawriyy al-Muḥtarifayni as-Suʿūdī''), known as the Roshn Saudi League (RSL for short) for sponsorship reasons, is the top division of association football in the Saudi Arabian league system. From 2013 to 2019, it was known as the Abdul Latif Jameel League, or Dawry Jameel, as it was sponsored by Abdul Latif Jameel. The first season of competition was the 1976–77 season. Al Raed Saudi Football Club ( ''Nādī ar-Rāʾid'', "Pioneer Club") is a Saudi football club based in Buraidah, and the first of its kind in the Qassim region of Saudi Arabia. One of the club's notable founders is Abdulaziz Al-Aboudi. Established in 1954, Al Raed have played in the Saudi Pro League, the top division of Saudi football, since 2008. Al-Shabab Football Club ( ar, نادي الشباب), or The Youth Football Club, in English, is a Saudi Arabian professional football club based in Riyadh. It was founded in 1947, and was at first named ''Shabab Al Riyadh''. (), meaning Riyadhi Youth, but in 1967 was renamed ''Al Shabab''. History Al Shabab was the First football club in Riyadh. The club began before 1947, with many conflicts before with its numerous members, but it was settled in 1947 and Abdulrahman Bin Saeed was the president. Five years later, Al Shabab won its first tournament beating Sakit Al Hadeed (Railway Club) in Riyadh. Three years later, in 1955 Al Shabab beat the Military College to win the King Saud Cup. The 2024–25 First Division League (known as the Yelo League for sponsorship reasons) is the fourth season of the Saudi First Division League after its rebrand, and the 48th season of the Saudi First Division since its establishment in 1976. Overview Changes On 21 June 2024, the FDL announced the introduction of a play-off system to determine the third team to be promoted to the Saudi Pro League. Teams placed between third and sixth position took part in the promotion play-offs. The fifth-placed would face the fourth, while the sixth-placed team would face the third. Al-Tai Football Club ( ar, نادي الطائي, nādī aṭ-ṭāyyī, Tayy Club) is a professional football club based in Ha'il, Saudi Arabia, that plays in the Saudi Professional League, the top tier of Saudi football. It was founded in 1961. Al-Tai have won the Saudi First Division three times, first in the 1984–85 season and last in the 2000–01 season, and have finished runners-up once in the Saudi First Division once in the 1977–78 season. Al-Tai have finished third once during the 2020–21 and earned promotion to the Pro League for the first time since 2008. Abha Club
Abha Football Club () is a professional Saudi Arabian association football club based in Abha that is currently playing in the Saudi Professional League, the highest tier of Saudi football. Their home stadium is Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Stadium. They were first promoted to the top flight in 2005 when they finished as runners up in the First Division. However, they were relegated after just one season. They achieved their second promotion in 2008 when they also finished as runners up. Al-Qadsiah Football Club ( ar, نادي القادسية) is a Saudi Arabian professional football club that competes in the Saudi First Division League. They are based in Khobar and their home ground is the Prince Saud bin Jalawi Stadium. History Al-Qadsiah have been a regular and uninterrupted participant in the Saudi Premier League since its inception in the inaugural 1976-77 season, their best ever top-flight season came in the 1980–81 season when they finished in 3rd place.
