National Democratic Institute
The National Democratic Institute (NDI) is a non-profit American non-governmental organization whose stated mission is to "support and strengthen democratic institutions worldwide through citizen participation, openness and accountability". It is funded primarily by the United States and other Western governments, by major corporations and by nonprofits like the Open Society Foundations. The NDI was founded in 1983, shortly after the United States Congress created the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). The NED's creation was followed by the establishment of three related institutes: the Center for International Private Enterprise, the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, and the National Republican Institute for International Affairs, later renamed the International Republican Institute (IRI). 2024 United Kingdom General Election
The 2024 United Kingdom general election was held on Thursday, 4 July 2024 to elect all 650 members of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, House of Commons. The opposition Labour Party (UK), Labour Party, led by Keir Starmer, won a landslide victory over the governing Conservative Party (UK), Conservative Party under Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, ending 14 years of Conservative rule. Labour secured 411 seats and a 174-seat majority, the fourth-best showing in the party's history and its best since 2001 United Kingdom general election, 2001. The party's vote share was 33.7%, the lowest of any majority party on record, making this the #Proportionality concerns, least proportional general election in British history. 2024 Mauritanian Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Mauritania on 29 June 2024. Incumbent Mohamed Ould Ghazouani won re-election for his second and final term as President of Mauritania, president, increasing his vote share by four points. Electoral system Under Article 26 of the Constitution of Mauritania, constitution the List of heads of state of Mauritania, president is elected for a five-year term using the two-round system.
