2024 Xiamen Diamond League
The 2024 Xiamen Diamond League was an outdoor track and field meeting in Xiamen, China. Held on 20 April 2024 at Xiamen Egret Stadium, it was the opening leg of the 2024 Diamond League – the highest level international track and field circuit. Highlights At the meeting, Armand Duplantis set the Men's pole vault world record progression, pole vault world record by clearing 6.24 metres. His "actual" clearance height was measured to be 6.29 metres. Results Athletes competing in the Diamond League disciplines earned extra compensation and points which went towards qualifying for the 2024 Diamond League finals. First place earned 8 points, with each step down in place earning one less point than the previous, until no points are awarded in 9th place or lower. Tshepiso Masalela (born 25 May 1999) is a middle-distance runner from Botswana. He is a multiple time national champion in the 800 metres and 1500 metres. Career At the 2022 African Championships he won his heat in the 800 metres in 1:48.69. He followed this up by winning the bronze medal in the final. In 2023, he lowered his 800 meters personal best to 1:45.24. At the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, he qualified for the finals of the 800m, placing 6th. In February 2024, Masalela set a national indoor record of 1:45.56 for the 800 metres in Metz. He ran at the 2024 World Indoors Athletics Championships in Glasgow where he reached the semi-finals. Nagmeldin "Peter" Bol (born 22 February 1994) is an Australian middle-distance runner who specialises in the 800 metres. Clayton Murphy
Clayton Murphy (born February 26, 1995) is an American middle-distance runner. He won the bronze medal in the 800-meter run at the 2016 Olympic Games. He was the gold medalist in the 800-meter run at the 2015 Pan American Games. He ran collegiately for the University of Akron, before signing with Nike in June 2016 and joining the Nike Oregon Project. Early life and education Clayton Murphy is the son of Mark and Melinda Murphy. He was raised in New Madison, Ohio. He attended Tri-Village High School and began to take part in track and field and cross country running while there.
