2024 World Surf League
The 2024 World Surf League is the 47th season of all iterations of the tour circuit for professional surfers. Billabong Pipe Masters will be the first round of the tour. For the fourth time, the season will end at Lower Trestles, in San Clemente, USA, with the top five seeded men and women from the season going head to head to determine the champion at the WSL Finals. Filipe Toledo and Caroline Marks are the defending champions. The 2024 CT will include nine regular-season events in seven countries. The Mid-season Cut will come into action following Stop No. 5 in Margaret River, Australia. Surfers who make the Cut will compete in Tahiti, El Salvador, and Brazil before a break for the 2024 Summer Olympics. The final event of the regular season will see the world's best surfers return to the iconic Cloudbreak in Fiji and battle for a place in the WSL Finals. The Fiji Pro was an event on the WSL Championship Tour. The event was held at Namotu in Tavarua, Fiji, and ran from 1999 to 2008, and then was resurrected in 2012. Margaret River Pro
Margaret River Pro is an event on the ASP World Surfing Tour currently WSL World Surfing League. It was established in 1985. Bells Beach, Victoria
Bells Beach is a coastal locality of Victoria, Australia in Surf Coast Shire and a renowned surf beach, located 100 km south-west of Melbourne, on the Great Ocean Road near the towns of Torquay and Jan Juc. It is named after William Bell, a Master Mariner, who owned much of the property there from the 1840s. Many records wrongly accredit the location's name to John Calvert Bell of the family that took up a pastoral run there much later in 1905 and built the 'Addiscot' homestead. John Calvert Bell was, before that time, a resident at Calder Park, Mount Duneed, and not related to William Bell of Bells Beach. The beach and coastal reserve are listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. In the 2016 Census, there were 130 people in Bells Beach, 88.7% of whom were born in Australia and 94.5% of whom spoke only English at home. Bells Beach Surf Classic
The Rip Curl Pro, formerly the Bells Beach Surf Classic, is a WSL (formerly ASP) World Tour surfing competition held in and around Torquay, Victoria and sponsored by surf company Rip Curl. The event is based at Bells Beach, Victoria, Australia. The event winner is awarded the prestigious 'Bell' trophy. The song "Hells Bells" by AC/DC is played every morning before the first competition. History The competition has been held annually at Easter time at Bells Beach, Victoria continuously since 1962, becoming a professional competition and sponsored by Rip Curl in 1973. Peniche () is a seaside municipality and a city located in the Leiria District of Central Portugal. It has 26,431 inhabitants, in an area of 77.55 km2. Supertubos
Supertubos (Portuguese for ''Supertubes'') is a wave and beach located in Peniche, Portugal. The break is the site of the MEO Pro Portugal from the World Surf League Men's and Women's Championship Tour event. The wave did not come into mainstream international spotlight until the Rip Curl Pro Search Event in 2009. It has been qualified as having 'Totally Epic' quality as a wave. Major surfing competitions The beach hosts every year the MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal, a professional surfing competition, from the World Surf League Men's and Women's Championship Tour. MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal
MEO Pro Portugal formerly known as ''MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal'', ''Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal'' or ''Rip Curl Pro Portugal'' is a professional surfing competition of the WSL World Tour held every year in October at the Supertubos beach in Peniche, Portugal. The event was first founded in 2009 as ''Rip Curl Search Portugal''. The defending men's champion is the Brazilian surfer Italo Ferreira who won the event both in 2018 and 2019, being the first back-to-back winner ever on the event. Sunset Beach (Oahu)
Sunset Beach on Oahu's North Shore Sunset Beach is on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii and known for big wave surfing during the winter season. The original Hawaiian name for this place is Paumalū. It is a two-mile (3.3 km) stretch of mostly beige sand located at 59-104 Kamehameha Highway in Pupukea, 39 miles (63 km) driving distance from Waikiki. Lifeguards are usually present. Like many beaches on Oahu's North Shore, Sunset Beach is considered dangerous for inexperienced surfers, due to extensive coral formations near the surface that present the risk of serious injury. Banzai Pipeline
The Banzai Pipeline, or simply Pipeline or Pipe, is a surf reef break located in Hawaii, off Ehukai Beach Park in Pupukea on O'ahu's North Shore. A reef break is an area in the ocean where waves start to break once they reach the shallows of a reef. Pipeline is known for huge waves that break in shallow water just above a sharp and cavernous reef, forming large, hollow, thick curls of water that surfers can tube ride. There are three reefs at Pipeline in progressively deeper water farther out to sea that activate according to the increasing size of approaching ocean swells. Origin of the name The location's compound name combines the name of the surf break (Pipeline) with the name of the beach fronting it (Banzai Beach).
