The 2024 Wicklow Senior Hurling Championship was the 112th staging of the Wicklow Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Wicklow County Board in 1903. The championship ran from 5 July to October 2024. Bray Emmets entered the championship as the defending champions. Aughrim County Ground, known for sponsorship reasons as Echelon Park Aughrim, is a GAA stadium in Aughrim, County Wicklow, Ireland. Aughrim County Ground is the name of the home of Gaelic Games for County Wicklow (Gaelic football, Hurling, Camogie, Ladies Football) team. The ground has a capacity of about 7,000. The name "O'Byrne Park" was occasionally used in the past, but this has never been the official name: this mistake that came about because of the Irish name for the local village of Aughrim, "Aughrim of the O'Byrnes" (''Eachdhruim UÃ Bhroin''). Pearse Park or Pearse's Park, () is an GAA stadium in Arklow, County Wicklow, Ireland. It is the home of the Wicklow hurling and camogie teams. The ground has a capacity of about 5,000. History Pearse name and redevelopment The ground is named after both the Pearse brothers executed in 1916; Patrick Pearse and Willie Pearse. It is believed that the ground was redeveloped around 1965. Former use Before the ground was redeveloped it was a greyhound racing track known as the Arklow Greyhound Track. The track raced under Irish Coursing Club rules and opened on 30 July 1949 but the Arklow Greyhound Racing Company was fined in 1949 for failing to stamp admission tickets and failure to produce a register. In 1951 landlord William Smyth sued the company for £375 unpaid rent & £1,300 under a covenant of the lease. Éire Óg Greystones GAA
Éire Óg Greystones GAA Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club with approximately 600 members and 20 different teams competing in Hurling, Gaelic Football, and Ladies Football in Wicklow League and Championship competitions. It comprises adult and juvenile sections. The majority of the clubs members are juveniles, both girls and boys, playing football and hurling. Kiltegan GAA Club (official title "Naomh Teagáin GAA club") is a Gaelic Athletic Association, GAA club located in Kiltegan, County Wicklow. The club was founded in 1964, and its catchment area covers the villages of Kiltegan, Rathdangan, and surrounding areas. The club is represented in youth competitions by the juvenile club Michael Dwyers GAA (Wicklow), Michael Dwyers which is a combination of the GAA clubs in Kiltegan, Ballymanus and Knockananna. Avondale GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Rathdrum, County Wicklow, Ireland. The club fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. History Located in the village of Rathdrum, County Wicklow, Avondale GAA Club was founded in 1886. Nationalist leader Charles Stewart Parnell made the grounds of Avondale House available to the club in the early days, while his brother, John Howard Parnell, became club president. Avondale had its first successes in 1908 when the club secured a SHC- SFC double. The club continued to win championship titles in all grades and in both codes throughout its history, including in the Wicklow SHC. Wicklow Intermediate Hurling Championship
The Wicklow Intermediate Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Lightning Protection Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Wicklow IHC) is an annual club hurling competition organised by the Wicklow County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by intermediate-ranked clubs in the county of Wicklow in Ireland, deciding the competition winners through a group and knockout format. It is the second tier overall in the entire Wicklow hurling championship system. In its current format, the Wicklow Intermediate Hurling Championship begins with a group stage. Aughrim, County Wicklow
Aughrim (; ) is a small town in County Wicklow, Ireland. It lies in a scenic valley in the Wicklow Mountains in the east of Ireland where the Ow and Derry rivers meet to form the Aughrim River. Aughrim is on the R747 road between Arklow and Baltinglass, and the R753 regional road. Architecture The Rednagh Bridge south of the village was the site of an engagement during the 1798 rebellion between Crown forces and the rebels. A plaque on the bridge commemorates Anne Devlin, who was employed by and supported Robert Emmet, a revolutionary who was hanged in 1803 for his leadership of an aborted uprising. There are a number of unusual granite terraced houses throughout the village, constructed - along with a forge, and town hall - at the behest of the Earl of Meath.
