2024 U.S. Open Cup Qualification
The 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup qualification will serve as local qualification for the 109th edition of the oldest soccer tournament in the United States. The tournament proper will feature both professional and amateur teams in the United States soccer league system. Qualification for the 2024 tournament includes local qualifying matches contested by 109 amateur teams scheduled to take place in 2023. One team also qualified by winning the 2023 National Amateur Cup and one team qualified by winning the 2023 United Premier Soccer League Spring Championships. Clubs playing in fully professional leagues are required to enter the tournament. The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is an American soccer league that was founded in Santa Ana in Southern California, with teams in regionalized conferences throughout the United States, and recently Canada and Mexico. The league was founded in 2011 by Santa Ana Winds FC President Leonel López as a regional league for teams in Greater Los Angeles, but expanded to include 400 teams from 41 states as of the 2022 season. Two seasons are played each year, with regional play culminating in a playoff system that crowns a single national champion each season. The Cosmopolitan Soccer League is a regional soccer league consisting of semi-pro and amateur teams based in and around New York City. Established in 1923, it is one of the oldest soccer leagues in the United States and has contributed greatly to the nation's soccer history. Currently, the league has four open divisions. The first two divisions require all clubs to also field reserve teams, a requirement that some leagues have abolished, but which the Cosmopolitan Soccer League believes makes its competition some of the strongest in United States soccer.
