The 2024 U.S. Open (officially known as the Yonex US Open 2024 for sponsorship reasons) was a badminton tournament which took place at Fort Worth, Texas, United States, from 25 to 30 June 2024 and had a total purse of $210,000. Tournament The 2024 U.S. Open was the eighteenth tournament of the 2024 BWF World Tour and also a part of the U.S. Open Badminton Championships which has been held since 1954. This tournament was organized by the USA Badminton and sanctioned by the BWF. Venue This international tournament was held at Fort Worth Convention Center, Texas, United States. Fort Worth Convention Center
The Fort Worth Convention Center (formerly known as the Tarrant County Convention Center) is a convention center and indoor arena located in downtown Fort Worth, Texas. The complex opened on September 30, 1968, and was expanded in 1983, 2002 and 2003. Background The complex was proposed by county officials in 1961 as a competitor to the Dallas Convention Center and approved in 1967. Over 14 city blocks (previously known as " Hell's Half Acre") were demolished to make way for the new facility that opened in 1968. The building is noted for the indoor arena, resembling a flying saucer. In 1997 the City of Fort Worth purchased the facilities and properties, changing the complex's name to the Fort Worth Convention Center. BWF World Tour Super 300
The BWF World Tour is a Badminton World Federation#Grade 2, Grade 2 badminton tournament series, sanctioned by Badminton World Federation (BWF). It is a competition open to the top world ranked players in singles (men's and women's) and doubles (men's, women's and mixed). The competition was announced on 19 March 2017 and came into effect starting from 2018 BWF World Tour schedule, 2018, replacing the BWF Super Series, which was held from 2007 to 2017. The BWF World Tour are divided into six levels, namely World Tour Finals, Super 1000, Super 750, Super 500, and Super 300 in order (part of the HSBC World Tour). One other category of tournament, the BWF Tour Super 100 level, also offers ranking points. Kantaphon Wangcharoen
Kantaphon Wangcharoen (; born 18 September 1998) is a Thai badminton player. At the young age, Wangcharoen became the runner-up in the senior tournament 2014 Singapore International in the men's singles event after losing the match because of foot injury. Wangcharoen clinched the bronze medal at the World Junior Championships in the boys' singles event, also part of the junior team that won the mixed team bronze in 2014 and 2016, and Asian mixed team bronze in 2016. Wangcharoen was a member of the Thailand national team that won the bronze medals at the 2017, 2019 SEA Games and 2019 Sudirman Cup. Joakim Oldorff
Joakim Oldorff (born 14 December 2002) is a Finnish badminton player, who has won, among others, bronze at the 2024 European Badminton Championships, the Welsh International 2023 and Estonian International 2024, and the Finnish Championships in 2021, 2023 and 2024. Career Oldorff started playing badminton at the age of 6, and later joined the badminton club Tapion Sulka (TS). As a junior, Oldorff won 5 boys' singles titles (U19) on the Badminton Europe Junior Circuit. His first title was the Czech Junior in November 2018 at the age of only 15. Jason Teh Jia Heng (born 25 August 2000) is a Singaporean badminton player. He won a bronze medal for Singapore as part of the team at the 2022 Asia Team Championships, 2022 Commonwealth Games, as well at the 2019, 2021, and the 2023 SEA Games. Early life Teh was born in Penang, Malaysia on 25 August 2000. He started playing badminton when he was four and moved to Singapore to study when he was 11. Alex Lanier (born 26 January 2005) is a French badminton player. He was a gold medalist in the 2025 European Championships. He became the first ever French player to win a BWF World Tour Super 750 tournament. In the juniors, Lanier was a boys' singles gold medalist at the 2022 European Junior Championships, and a bronze medalist at the 2023 World Junior Championships.
