2024 U.S. Classic
The 2024 U.S. Classic, known as the 2024 Core Hydration Classic for sponsorship purposes, was the 40th edition of the U.S. Classic gymnastics competition. The event took place on May17 and 18, 2024 at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. At the event, Simone Biles won her seventh career U.S. Classic all-around title. XL Center
The PeoplesBank Arena, (originally known as the Hartford Civic Center and formerly as the XL Center) is a multi-purpose arena and convention center located in downtown Hartford, Connecticut. Owned by the City of Hartford, it is managed by the quasi-public Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) under a lease with the city and operated by OVG. The arena is ranked the 28th largest among college basketball arenas. It opened in 1975 as the Hartford Civic Center and was originally located adjacent to Civic Center Mall, which was demolished in 2004. It consists of two facilities: the Veterans Memorial Coliseum and the Exhibition Center. In December 2007, the center was renamed when the arena's naming rights were sold to XL Group insurance company in a six-year agreement. Dulcy Grey Caylor (born December 9, 2007) is an American artistic gymnast. Junior gymnastics career 2022 In July, Caylor was selected to compete at the 2022 Pan American Championships alongside Zoey Molomo, Tiana Sumanasekera and Alicia Zhou. There she won gold in the all-around, silver on vault and bronze on balance beam, and she helped the United States win the team gold. In August, she then competed at the 2022 U.S. National Gymnastics Championships, where she won bronze on floor and placed fourth in the all-around, fifth on uneven bars, and eighth on vault. The Florida Gators women's gymnastics team represents the University of Florida in the sport of artistic gymnastics, gymnastics. Tiana Sumanasekera (born September 15, 2007) is an American artistic gymnast and a member of the United States women's national artistic gymnastics team. She is the 2023 Pan American all-around and balance beam champion. Early life Sumanasekera was born to Rajitha and Ruwangi Sumanasekera in 2007. She started gymnastics in 2013. She is of Sri Lankan descent. Sumanasekera is believed to be the first gymnast of Sri Lankan descent to represent the U.S. in international competition. Junior gymnastics career Sumanasekera competed at the 2021 Winter Cup where she placed seventh in the all-around. World Olympic Gymnastics Academy
The World Olympic Gymnastics Academy (WOGA) is a two-facility gymnastics club located in Frisco, Texas, Frisco and Plano, Texas, Plano. In 1994, WOGA was established by Yevgeny Marchenko (gymnast), Yevgeny Marchenko, a World Sports acrobatic champion who guided Carly Patterson to her gold medal, and Valeri Liukin, a Soviet Union, Soviet Olympic winner from 1988 who later worked as coordinator for the USA Gymnastics women's national team. The Oregon State Beavers women's gymnastics team represents Oregon State University in NCAA women's artistic gymnastics, competing at the Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Oregon. History The program began in 1966; competing the first time in 1967, with Sylvia Moore taking the lead as the first gymnastics coach of the modern era of Oregon State. She headed the program until 1975, when Ron Ludwig succeeded her – the Beavers finished sixth at the AIAW Regional in Monmouth, Oregon. World Champions Centre (WCC) is an American artistic gymnastics academy, located in Spring, Texas. It is home to Olympic champion Simone Biles and is owned by her family. History After the 2013 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Aimee Boorman, the longtime coach of Simone Biles, was looking to leave Bannon's Gymnastix.
