2024 Taiwan Football Premier League
The 2024 Taiwan Football Premier League was the eighth season of Taiwan Football Premier League, the top-flight association football competition in Taiwan under its current format. The season began on 14 April and finished on 8 December 2024. Teams Promotions and relegations There are 8 teams in the league, including 7 teams from the 2023 Taiwan Football Premier League, 2023 season and 1 team promoted from the 2023 Taiwan Second Division Football League, 2023 second division. Teams relegated to the second division Taipei Elite SC, Taipei Dragons was the only team relegated after finishing last place in the previous season, ending their one year stay in the top tier. Taipei Dragons was renamed to Taipei Elite SC in 2024. The Taiwan Football Premier League (TFPL; ) is the top-ranked Taiwanese Association football, football league run by the Chinese Taipei Football Association (CTFA). History The Taiwan Football Premier League was founded in 2017 after the folding of the then highest-ranked National First Division Football League (Intercity Football League). During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, it was one of the few football leagues in the world to begin and proceed without disruption, due to the relatively light situation in Taiwan compared to most other countries. Competition format The Taiwan Football Premier League's schedule usually runs from April to November. It contains 8 teams that compete in a series of three round-robin tournaments, each composed of seven games. Ming Chuan University (MCU; ) is a private university with four campuses in Taipei, Taoyuan and Kinmen in Taiwan, as well as one in Michigan, United States. Hang Yuan Football Club (; also spelled Hang Yuen, currently known as New Taipei Hang Yuan FJCU) is a professional football club based in New Taipei, Taiwan, that competes in the Taiwan Football Premier League.
