2024 Summer Paralympics Opening Ceremony
The Olympic ceremonies, opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Paralympics took place on the evening of 28 August 2024 at the Place de la Concorde in Paris. It was the first time that a Summer Paralympic Games opening ceremony was held outside of a stadium. Like the 2024 Summer Olympics opening ceremony, this event was directed by Alexander Ekman (artist), Alexander Ekman and Thomas Jolly. The ceremony was themed around the human body and "history and its paradoxes", and featured more than 500 dancers and performers. Unlike the Olympics opening ceremony, which took place mostly under rain, the weather was clear and sunny with a view of sunset during the ceremony. Skateboarding At The 2024 Summer Olympics
Skateboarding competitions at the 2024 Summer Olympics are scheduled to run from 27 July to 7 August at Place de la Concorde, returning to the program for the second time since the sport's official debut three years earlier in Tokyo 2020. With the showcase of youthful talents and the level of competition continually rising, Paris 2024 will witness more skateboarders compete across four medal events (street and park for both men and women) as the roster size gradually expands from 80 in Tokyo to 88. Qualification 88 quota places are available for eligible skateboarders to compete in Paris 2024. NOCs can enter a maximum of six skateboarders (three men and three women) in each of the two disciplines — street and park. Andrew George William Parsons (born 10 February 1977) is a Brazilian sports administrator and journalist. He is the current president of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). In 2018, Parsons became a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Biography Parsons was born in Brazil to Scottish parents. The Phryges () are the official mascots of the 2024 Summer Olympics and 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris. They are anthropomorphic Phrygian caps, a French symbol of liberty. History Background The Phrygian cap, a soft hat typically in red, was traditionally worn by freed slaves in Phrygia, an ancient kingdom located in present-day Turkey. Since the 1789 storming of the Bastille state prison, which began the French Revolution, the Phrygian cap was worn as a symbol of liberty, including during the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris. The Paris Organising Committee for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games (COJOP2024) (french: Comité d'Organisation des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de Paris 2024) is the organising committee for the 2024 Summer Olympics and the 2024 Summer Paralympics which are scheduled to be held in Paris, France. Karl Wilhelm Alexander Ekman (born 1984) is a Swedish ballet dancer and choreographer. His choreographies have been performed by Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, the Boston Ballet, the Semperoper Ballett, the Nederlands Dans Theater, the Norwegian National Ballet, the Royal Swedish Ballet, the , the Sydney Dance Company and the Wiener Staatsballett. The Luxor Obelisks (French: ''Obélisques de Louxor'') are a pair of Ancient Egyptian obelisks, over 3,000 years old, carved to stand either side of the portal of the Luxor Temple in the reign of Ramesses II ().
