2024 Speedway Grand Prix Of Latvia
The 2024 FIM Speedway Grand Prix of Latvia was the ninth round of the 2024 Speedway Grand Prix season (the World Championship of speedway). It took place on 7 September at the Biķernieki Speedway Stadium in Riga, Latvia. It was the 10th time that the Speedway Grand Prix of Latvia was held. The event was won by Bartosz Zmarzlik (his 25th career Grand Prix win). Zmarzlik was fortunate not to be excluded after a heat 4 crash with Mikkel Michelsen as the pair tangled. The referee Jesper Steentoft controversially excluded Michelesen, who sustained significant injuries to his right shoulder, humerus and elbow. Biķernieki Speedway Stadium
The Riga Speedway Stadium or the Biķernieki Speedway Stadium is a multi-use stadium in the eastern part of Riga, Latvia. The stadium is the venue for the 2023 World Championship round known as the Speedway Grand Prix of Latvia and the Team Speedway Under-21 World Championship. The speedway track which is adjacent to the Biķernieki Complex Sports Base was first constructed in 1976 and held several editions of the Soviet Union Speedway Championship before falling into disrepair. However, in 2014 the track was renovated and has even hosted a drift race car meeting that normally tales place on the larger adjacent circuit. Leon Madsen
Leon Daniel Madsen (born 5 September 1988) is a Danish speedway rider who is twice a World Championship silver medalist. Career Born in Vejle, Madsen won the 80cc junior World Championship in 2001. In 2018, Madsen won the Individual Speedway European Championship for the first time. The following year in 2019, he won the silver medal in the Speedway World Championship, finishing runner-up in the 2019 Speedway Grand Prix behind Bartosz Zmarzlik. He won three Grand Prix events during the 2019 Championship. He was part of the Denmark national speedway team that won consecutive bronze medals at the 2020 Speedway of Nations and 2021 Speedway of Nations. Ričards Ansviesulis (born 21 June 2002) is an international motorcycle speedway rider from Latvia. Career Ansviesulis won the 2018 Estonian Individual Speedway Championship aged just 16 and came to prominence after winning the bronze medal at the 2020 Team Speedway Junior European Championship. He repeated his success of 2020 by winning a second bronze medal during the 2021 European Under 23 Team Speedway Championship. Francis Gusts (born 2 January 2003) is an international speedway rider from Latvia. Speedway career Gusts became the European Junior Champion after winning the 2021 Individual Speedway Junior European Championship in his home country. During the same year, Gusts, riding with riding partners Ernests Matjusonoks and Ričards Ansviesulis, won the European U19 pairs title. Jack Holder
Jack Holder (born 23 March 1996) is an Australian motorcycle speedway rider. Jack is a World team champion and his brother Chris Holder is a former World individual champion. Career A successful rider in Australia, he came to England and first rode for Plymouth Devils in 2015. He was part of the Plymouth team that won the Premier League Four-Team Championship, which was held on 23 and 24 July 2016, at the East of England Arena. Daniils Kolodinskis (born 19 November 2000) is a Latvian motorcycle speedway rider. Career Kolodinskis came to prominence when reaching the final of the 2019 Individual Speedway Junior European Championship. Dominik Kubera (born 15 April 1999) is an international speedway rider from Poland. Speedway career Kubera won a bronze and a silver medal at the World Under 21 Championship in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Martin Vaculík (born 5 April 1990) is a Slovak motorcycle speedway rider. Career On the 6 May 2008, Vaculík gained a Polish speedway licence (''Licencja "Ż"'') at Toruń. and from 4 June 2008 he has taken part in the Polish Championships as a Polish domestic rider.
