As part of the British honours system, Special Honours are issued at the Monarch of the United Kingdom, Monarch's At His Majesty's pleasure, pleasure at any given time. British Honours System
In the United Kingdom and the British Overseas Territories, personal bravery, achievement, or service are rewarded with honours. The honours system consists of three types of award: *Honours are used to recognise merit in terms of achievement and service; * Decorations tend to be used to recognise specific deeds; * Medals are used to recognise service on a particular operation or in a specific theatre, long or valuable service, and good conduct. Ayesha Yousef Hazarika, Baroness Hazarika, (born 15 December 1975) is a Scottish broadcaster, journalist and political commentator, and former political adviser to senior Labour Party politicians. Early life Hazarika was born in Bellshill Maternity Hospital, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, to Indian Muslim parents who immigrated from Assam, and was raised in Coatbridge. She was educated at Laurel Bank, an all-girls school in Glasgow, and studied law at the University of Hull. Hazarika had planned to become a solicitor before deciding instead to train as a journalist. Comedy While working as a press officer at the Department of Trade and Industry, Hazarika was persuaded by a friend to take a comedy course run by comedian Logan Murray. Lord Lieutenant Of Dorset
The Office of the Lord Lieutenant was created during the reign of Henry VIII (1509-1547), taking over the military duties of the Sheriff of Dorset and control of the military forces of the Crown. From 1569, there was provision for the appointment of Deputy Lieutenants, and in 1662 the Lord-Lieutenant was given entire control of the militia. The Forces Act of 1871 transferred this function back to the Crown, and in 1921, the office lost its power to call upon men of the county to fight in case of need. Appointment and Current Duties Lord Lieutenants are appointed by The Queen for each county in the United Kingdom, to represent the Crown. They are non-political and retire at the age of 75. Lionel Tarassenko, (born 17 April 1957) is a British engineer and academic, who is a leading expert in the application of signal processing and machine learning to healthcare. He was previously Head of Department of Engineering Science (Dean of Engineering) at the University of Oxford, succeeded by Ronald A. Roy. Towards the end of his time as Dean, the Department rose to number 1 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. Alexandra Lee Jessica Freeman, Baroness Freeman of Steventon (born March 1974) is a British science communicator, life peer, and former television producer. Richard Simon Hermer, Baron Hermer, (born 1968) is a British barrister and life peer who has served as Attorney General for England and Wales and Advocate General for Northern Ireland since July 2024.
