2024 Shanghai EPrix
The 2024 Shanghai ePrix was a pair of Formula E electric car races held at the Shanghai International Circuit in the outskirts of Shanghai, China on 25 and 26 May 2024. It served as the 11th and 12th rounds of the 2023–24 Formula E season, and marked the first edition of the Shanghai ePrix and the first ePrix held in China since the 2019 Sanya ePrix. The first race was won by Mitch Evans driving for Jaguar TCS Racing, with Pascal Wehrlein and Nick Cassidy in second and third place respectively. The second race was won by António Félix da Costa driving for TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, with Jake Hughes and Norman Nato in second and third place respectively. The 2019 Sanya ePrix (formally the 2019 FWD Sanya E-Prix) was a Formula E electric motor race held in Sanya on the Chinese island of Hainan on 23 March 2019. It was the 6th race of the 2018–19 Formula E season, and the first ePrix to be held in China since the 2015 Beijing ePrix and the first Sanya ePrix. Report Background The Sanya ePrix was announced as part of the 2018–19 calendar in June 2018 by Formula E founder, Alejandro Agag, and was confirmed as season 5's 6th race on 10 January 2019. The Shanghai E-Prix is an annual race in the FIA Formula E World Championship, an all-electric single-seater racing series. The race was held for the first time at the Shanghai International Circuit on 25 May 2024. History Formula E has raced in China multiple times, with the Beijing ePrix serving as the opening race for the seasons 1 and 2, the Hong Kong ePrix serving as the opening race for the seasons 3 and 4 and held for the final time in 2019, and the Sanya ePrix being held in 2019. There was supposed to be a race in Sanya in 2020, but this was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
