2024 Salvadoran Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in El Salvador in February and March 2024. In the first round on 4 February, voters elected all 60 deputies of the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador, Legislative Assembly. In the second round on 3 March, voters elected mayors and municipal councils for all 44 of the country's Municipalities of El Salvador, municipalities and all 20 of El Salvador's deputies to the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN). The Supreme Electoral Court (El Salvador), Supreme Electoral Court (TSE) allowed 13 List of political parties in El Salvador, political parties to participate in the election. 2021 Salvadoran Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in El Salvador on 18 February 2021. Salvadorans elected all 84 deputies of the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador, Legislative Assembly, all 262 mayors of municipal councils of the country's Municipalities of El Salvador, municipalities, and all 20 of El Salvador's deputies to the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN). ''La Prensa'' is a mainstream metropolitan newspaper, and became one of the first newspapers to print in color in Central America. The Nationalist Republican Alliance (, abbreviated ARENA) is a conservative, center-right to right-wing political party of El Salvador. It was founded on 30 September 1981 by retired Salvadoran Army Major Roberto D'Aubuisson. National Coalition Party (El Salvador)
The National Coalition Party (, PCN) is a nationalist political party in El Salvador. Until 2011 it was known as the National Conciliation Party (, PCN). It was the most powerful political party in the country during the 1960s and 1970s, and was closely associated with the Salvadoran military. The Christian Democratic Party (, abbreviated PDC) is a Salvadoran political party. From 2011 to 2012, the party was renamed to Party of Hope (, abbreviated PES) before reverting to the Christian Democratic Party. The PDC has been led by Reinaldo Carballo since 2023. The PDC was founded in November 1960 in opposition of the Salvadoran military government, but in 1961, some members of the PDC left the party to form the National Conciliation Party (PCN) which would become the military's ruling party. Nayib Bukele
Nayib Armando Bukele Ortez (; born 24 July 1981) is a Salvadoran politician and businessman who has served as the 81st president of El Salvador since 2019. In 1999, Bukele established an advertising company and worked at an advertising company owned by his father, Armando Bukele Kattán.
