2024 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series
The 2024 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series is an ongoing season of the Red Bull GmbH, Red Bull-sponsored international High diving, cliff diving series. It is the 16th edition of this event. The series began on 26 May in Athens, Greece, with the final event being held on 10 November 2024 in Sydney, Australia. Calendar Divers The men's series features 8 permanent divers, with four wildcard divers selected to compete at each event. Whilst this season of the women's series have 7 permanent divers, with 5 wildcard divers selected at each event. Changes in Lineup The 2024 season saw four new permanent divers with Carlos Gimeno (diver), Carlos Gimeno and Jonathan Paredes (diver), Jonathan Paredes becoming permanent divers in the Men's series. María Quintero and Simone Leathead were the new permanent divers in the Women's series. The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, established in 2009 and created by Red Bull GmbH, Red Bull, is an annual international series of Diving (sport), cliff diving events in which a limited number of competitors determine the Cliff Diving World Series winner. Divers jump from a platform at a height ranging from 85–92 ft (26 to 28 m) . Competitions are held in a limited number of venues around the globe. History The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series men’s competition started in 2009. The women’s competition began in 2014. The competition season takes place over eight locations around the world. Aidan Heslop (born 18 April 2002) is a British diver and high diver who competes internationally representing Wales and Great Britain. In 2024 he won gold in the men's high dive at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games he competed representing Wales, finishing 6th in the 10 metre platform and 12th in the 3 metre springboard. In 2021, he won the gold medal in the 27 metre high dive at the Abu Dhabi Aquatics Festival representing Great Britain, performing the highest difficulty dive, a 6.2 degree of difficulty, in history. Gary Hunt (born 11 June 1984), also known as Roger Gary Hunt, is an elite sports diver, specialising in cliff or high diving, and is the 2019 World champion in high diving at World Aquatics Championships event, where he holds the championship record. With a silver in the 2013 edition of the event, Hunt is the most successful male diver in the short history of the FINA recognised event. She placed fourth in high diving at the 2023 World Aquatics Championship and second at the 2024 World Aquatics High Diving World Cup event in Bahrain.
