2024 North Dakota Senate Election
The 2024 North Dakota Senate election took place on November 5, 2024, as part of the 2024 United States elections. North Dakota Senate, Senators serve four-year terms. Elections are staggered such that half the senate districts have elections every two years (even-numbered seats are up on presidential election years.) In the 2022 North Dakota elections, a ballot measure created term limits of eight years in the North Dakota Senate, which was put into effect starting January 2023. However, no candidate up for election will be affected by the term limits. In January of 2024, Federal District Court Judge Peter Welte required North Dakota to substantially alter Legislative District 9 in response to a lawsuit by the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians and the Spirit Lake Tribe. North Dakota Senate
The North Dakota State Senate is the upper house of the North Dakota Legislative Assembly, smaller than the North Dakota House of Representatives. Per the state constitution, North Dakota is divided into between 40 and 54 legislative districts apportioned by population as determined by the decennial census. The 2000 redistricting plan provided for 47 districts, with one senator elected from each district. Senators serve four-year terms. Elections are staggered such that half the senate districts have elections every two years. In the 2022 North Dakota elections, a ballot measure passed with 63.4% of the vote creating term limits of eight years in the North Dakota Senate, which was put into effect starting January 2023. KVLY-TV (channel 11) is a television station in Fargo, North Dakota, United States, affiliated with NBC. It is owned by Gray Media alongside KXJB-LD (channel 30), a low-power CBS and CW affiliate. The two stations share studios on 21st Avenue South in Fargo; KVLY-TV's transmitter is located near Blanchard. In addition to its main studio in Fargo, KVLY-TV operates a news bureau and sales office in the US Bank building in downtown Grand Forks. Channel 11 began broadcasting on October 11, 1959. It was built by John Boler, the owner of KXJB-TV, and served as little more than a passthrough for ABC programming in the immediate Fargo– Moorhead area. James P. "Jim" Roers is an American politician and businessman who was a member of the North Dakota Senate from the 46th district. He assumed office on December 1, 2016. Early life and education Roers was born in Alexandria, Minnesota and raised in Fargo, North Dakota. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture from North Dakota State University.
