2024 Norfolk Island Local Election
The 2024 Norfolk Island local election was scheduled to be held on 14 September 2024 to elect the Norfolk Island Regional Council, the local government body of Norfolk Island. However, no election took place following the suspension of the council in 2020 after years of financial troubles. The council is subject to the state-level legislation of New South Wales, and as such, the election would have been part of the 2024 New South Wales local elections. On 4 February 2021, then-Assistant Minister for Regional Development and Territories Nola Marino suspended the council and appointed Mike Colreavy as an Interim Administrator, following the postponement of the 2020 election. On 6 December 2021, the council was formally dismissed and Colreavy became Administrator for a period of three years. Dave Porter (Norfolk Islander Politician)
David Raymond Porter (born 2 October 1954) is a Norfolk Islander former politician. He was a member of the Norfolk Island Regional Council before it was dismissed in 2021, and prior to that, a member of the Norfolk Island Legislative Assembly before it was disbanded. He is a senior member of the Norfolk Liberals. Political career Porter was elected to the Legislative Assembly at the 2013 election, running alongside Ian Anderson as Liberal candidates. Following the disbandment of the Legislative Assembly, Porter ran in the inaugural Regional Council election in 2016. He was successful, being the third of five candidates declared elected having received 15.61% of the vote. The Norfolk Island Liberal Party ( pih, Norfuk Ailen Librel Paati), more commonly referred to simply as the Norfolk Liberals ( pih, Norfuk Librels), is the Norfolk Island wing of the Liberal Party of Australia. Norfolk Island (, ; Norfuk: ''Norf'k Ailen'') is an external territory of Australia located in the Pacific Ocean between New Zealand and New Caledonia, directly east of Australia's Evans Head and about from Lord Howe Island. 2024 New South Wales Local Elections
The 2024 New South Wales local elections were held on 14 September 2024 to elect the councils of 127 of the 128 local government areas (LGAs) in New South Wales, Australia. 37 councils also held mayoral elections, and eight councils conducted referendums. The New South Wales Electoral Commission (NSWEC) conducted the elections for 125 councils, while the private Australian Election Company conducted the elections for Fairfield and Liverpool. No election was held for Central Darling as the council was under administration. Nola Bethwyn Marino (née Catalano; born 18 February 1954) is an Australian politician who has been a member of the House of Representatives since 2007, representing the Division of Forrest in Western Australia. The 2020 Norfolk Island local election was scheduled to be held on 14 November 2020 to elect the Norfolk Island Regional Council, the local government body of Norfolk Island.
