2024 Masters (darts)
The 2024 Cazoo Masters was the twelfth staging of the non-ranking Masters darts tournament, held by the Professional Darts Corporation, from 2–4 February 2024, at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes. Chris Dobey was the defending champion after defeating Rob Cross 11–7 in the 2023 final. However, he lost to Michael van Gerwen in the second round. Stephen Bunting won his first PDC major televised title, beating Van Gerwen 11–7 in the final. Qualifiers The Masters featured the top 24 players in the PDC Order of Merit after the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship, with the top 8 automatically qualifying for the second round. Gerwyn Price withdrew from the tournament on 1 February 2024 due to family reasons. José de Sousa (the next highest ranked player) was scheduled to replace Price, but he was unable to, so was replaced by the next highest ranked player who was available, which in this case, was Daryl Gurney. Marshall Arena
The Marshall Arena (formerly known as Arena MK, also Milton Keynes Arena) is a multi-purpose arena in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England, located beside Stadium MK. The multi-use event space is positioned over three floors and anticipates music and sporting events, conferences, exhibitions and parties. History The arena was to be the home of the Milton Keynes Lions professional basketball team. However, the retail developments that would have provided enabling funding were deferred due to lack of financing, leaving the Lions without a home. Following the conclusion of the 2011–12 season, the Lions could not secure a venue within Milton Keynes, resulting in a move south to the Copper Box. It officially opened on 8 February 2014 when it hosted the 2014 English National Badminton Championships. Gerwyn Price
Gerwyn Stephen Price (born 7 March 1985) is a Welsh professional darts player and former professional rugby union and rugby league player. Nicknamed "The Iceman", he competes in events of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), where he is currently the World No. 4. He is a 3-time Grand Slam Champion and a former world champion, becoming the first ever Welshman to win the tournament. He is also a former world No. 1. He broke into the top 32 on the PDC Order of Merit in 2016 and soon afterwards won his first Pro Tour title. Josh Rock
Joshua Rock (born 13 April 2001) is a Northern Irish professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. In his debut year at the international level, he won the 2022 PDC World Youth Championship. He is the first player to throw a televised nine-dart finish in their debut year at the 2022 Grand Slam of Darts in the match against Michael van Gerwen. Career In 2021 he reached a final in Irish Classic and lost 3–5 to Shaun McDonald. He defeated on the way to the finals some high-rank players like Brian Raman. Beside he played himself into the quarter-finals of the Irish Open. Andrew Gilding
Andrew Gilding (born 7 December 1970) is an English professional darts player who plays in events of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). He made his television debut in 2011. Gilding's best result at a PDC major event was reaching the semi-finals of the 2015 UK Open. Career Gilding made his television debut at the 2011 UK Open at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton as a pub qualifier. Martin Schindler (born 16 August 1996) is a German professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Career Schindler won a PDC Tour Card at Qualifying-School (Q-School) in January 2017. Daryl Gurney (born 22 March 1986) is a Northern Irish professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Gurney is a winner of two majors, having won the World Grand Prix in 2017 in his native Ireland, and the Players Championship Finals in 2018. José Augusto Oliveira de Sousa (born 12 February 1974) is a Portuguese professional darts player. He is based in Tarragona and represented Spain at the 2011 WDF World Cup, but played for the Portuguese team afterwards at the PDC. The 2024 PDC World Darts Championship (known as the 2024 Paddy Power World Darts Championship) is a professional darts event that will take place at Alexandra Palace in London, England, from 15 December 2023 to 3 January 2024. It is the 31st World Darts Championship to be organised by the Professional Darts Corporation since it separated from the now-defunct British Darts Organisation.
