2024 MPBL Preseason Invitational
The 2024 MPBL Preseason Invitational was the preseason pocket tournament for the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League's 2024 season and the third edition of the MPBL Preseason Invitational. The tournament began on February 21, 2024 and ended with the final game on February 27, 2024. The Pampanga Giant Lanterns were the tournament champions after defeating the South Cotabato Warriors with a score of 93–75. Similar to the previous edition, the tournament was held at the Lagao Gymnasium in General Santos and used the same eight-team format as before. The tournament coincided with the city's Kalilangan Festival. Teams A total of eight teams competed in the tournament. These include seven MPBL teams, as well as returning guest team ''GenSan Bulalakaw''. Jammer Jamito
Raymon "Jammer" Jamito (born September 1, 1990) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Bacoor City Strikers of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). Professional career Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Jamito was the 3rd pick of the regular round in the 2016 PBA draft. In 2017, Jamito was part of the Slam Dunk Contest during All-Star Week. The crowd expected him to jump over 6-foot-9 Japeth Aguilar. Instead, he side-stepped him and did a basic one-hand dunk, drawing laughs from the crowd. The stunt became viral, and was featured on the television show " The Starters." He also won a Governors' Cup title that year. Nico Elorde
Juan Nicholas V. "Nico" Elorde (born 4 October 1991) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the GenSan Warriors of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). Early life Nico is third the son of Johnny Elorde, a boxing promoter in the Philippines and the grandson of Gabriel Elorde. His two older brothers Juan Martin Elorde and Juan Miguel Elorde are both professional boxers. Although their family is well known in the boxing community and he was introduced to boxing by the age of four, instead, Nico chose to play basketball to be different from his brothers' chosen sporting careers. John Marion Raymundo Wilson (born January 18, 1987) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Davao Occidental Tigers of the Pilipinas Super League (PSL). Professional career Wilson was drafted by Barangay Ginebra Kings seventh overall in the 2010 PBA draft. On August 23, 2012, Wilson was traded to the Air21 Express. The trade was a part of a three team trade that involved Barangay Ginebra, Air21, and San Miguel Beermen. On July 17, 2013, he, along with Nonoy Baclao, were traded Air21 to the Meralco Bolts in exchange for Carlo Sharma and Vic Manuel. Juneric "Jong" Davalos Baloria (born June 3, 1990) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Batangas City Embassy Chill of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). He was drafted 30th overall pick by the Blackwater Elite in the 2014 PBA draft. He was traded to the NLEX Road Warriors along with 2016 and 2017 second round picks for Jason Ballesteros and Sunday Salvacion. Amateur career Baloria was a member of the UPHSD Altas, the men's varsity basketball team of the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (UPHSD) started at the NCAA Season 89 basketball tournaments in 2013.
