2024 Lok Sabha Speaker Election
The 2024 Lok Sabha Speaker election in India was held on 26 June 2024 to elect the Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha. It was the fourth Lok Sabha Speaker election in India after 1952, 1967, and 1976 elections. Former Speaker Om Birla of the BJP was elected back to the position after defeating Kodikunnil Suresh of the INC. History In 1952, 2 leaders from the Congress, G. V. Jagannathrao Joshi
Jagannathrao Joshi (23 June 1920 – 15 July 1991) was an Indian politician and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was born at Nargund, Karnataka on 23 June 1920. He completed his matriculation from Nutan Marathi Vidyalaya in Pune and graduation in English Hons from Sir Parshurambhau College. Inspired by the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, he began his political career with the Jana Sangh in Pune.
