2024 Liga 3 (Georgia)
The 2024 Liga 3 season was the 8th edition under its current title and the 36th edition of third tier football in Georgia. The regular two-round tournament commenced on 7 March and ended on 7 December with two-legged promotion play-offs completed on 16 December. Each team played thirty matches in as many rounds. There were sixteen teams competing in the league this season. Five of them, namely Borjomi, Guria, Merani Martvili, Merani Tbilisi and Zestaponi had participated in the top tier with the latter being the two-time national champions. Gori had the longest tenure in the league with the 8th consecutive season while Meshakhte and Bakhmaro entered into the seventh year. On the other hand, Gonio were the only team to have made their debut in Liga 3. Liga 3 (Georgia)
Liga 3 ( ka, ლიგა 3), organized by the Georgian Football Federation, is the third division of professional football in Georgia. Introduced for the 2017 season with the launch of the Erovnuli Liga, it is a rebrand of the former Meore Liga (the Second League). The current holders are Gonio. Structure and league system There were 20 teams competing in the league in 2017. In 2019, when Liga 4 was formed, their number was reduced to ten, although after two seasons GFF decided to extend the league to 14 at the expense of two bottom teams from the previous season and two second-placed clubs from Liga 4 While and Red Groups. In 2022, the number of clubs was increased to 16. Seasons run based on Spring-Autumn system with each team playing an equal amount of home and away games against their league rivals. FC Bakhmaro Chokhatauri
FC Bakhmaro ('' Georgian'': საფეხბურთო კლუბი ბახმარო) is a Georgian association football club based in Chokhatauri. The club currently competes in Liga 3, the third tier of the national football system. History FC Bakhmaro have never participated in the top division of Georgian football. In the 1990s they took part in the second league for several seasons and in the mid-2010s the club mostly played in the third division, where they usually stayed in top half of the table. Despite coming 2nd in their group in 2016, Bakhmaro left the third tier in view of reorganization of the entire league system, which meant relegation for a vast majority of clubs. It took the team a year to win the Regional league tournament, the then forth division, and return to Liga 3. The next year the club had quite a memorable season. Keda, Georgia
Keda ( ka, ქედა ) is an urban-type settlement ( ''daba'') in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, in southwestern Georgia, located east of the regional capital Batumi. The town of 1,285 residents (2021) is the administrative centre of the Keda Municipality, and is located at the confluence of the Acharistsqali (literally 'river of Adjara') and Akavreta rivers, at an elevation of above sea level. FC Locomotive Tbilisi, commonly referred to as Lokomotivi or simply Loco, is a Georgian professional football club based Tbilisi. The club competes in the Erovnuli Liga 2, the second tier of Georgian football. During the existence of the USSR the club was a part of the Lokomotiv Voluntary Sports Society. The club has strong connections with the Georgian Railways. History Locomotive was founded on 14 August 1936 as a part of Lokomotiv sports society. The club won Georgian championship in 1937, which gave them the permission to participate in USSR Top League. SFC Sturmi ( ka, სართიჭალის საფეხბურთო კლუბი შტურმი) is a Georgian football club based in the town of Sartichala. Being one of the youngest domestic teams, they started taking part in the fifth division of the Georgian league system in 2020. Within four years, they had progressed to Erovnuli Liga 2. FC Aragvi Dusheti
FC Aragvi ( ka, საფეხბურთო კლუბი არაგვი) is a Georgian association football club. Following the 2024 season, the team was relegated to Liga 3, the third tier of Georgian football. Although registered in Dusheti, Aragvi have not played there since 2019, holding home matches in Mtskheta, Tbilisi and Sartichala instead. History Established in 1954, during the Soviet period Aragvi mainly participated in the East group of Georgian republican league 2. In the 2008–09 season, the team played in the Meore Liga. FC Chikhura Sachkhere
Football Club Chikhura Sachkhere, commonly known as Chikhura Sachkhere or simply Chikhura, is a Georgian football club based in Sachkhere. Following the 2024 season, the club was relegated to Regionuli Liga, the fifth tier of Georgian league system. History Founded in 1938, during World War II the club was disbanded, but later they resumed participation in low leagues of the republican championship. Since 2002 Chikhura has been financed by the Georgian businessman Bidzina Ivanishvili. The club spent many years in lower divisions before getting promoted to Umaglesi Liga in 2012.
