The 2024 Kansas City Royals season is the 56th season for the franchise, and their 52nd at Kauffman Stadium. It is also the team's second season under the management of Matt Quatraro. As of August 18, the season has been a major improvement for the Royals; after finishing with only 56 wins in 2023, 2nd-worst in Major League Baseball, MLB behind the 2023 Oakland Athletics season, Oakland Athletics, the 2024 Royals won their 56th game on July 22. American League Central
The American League Central is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. This division was formed in the realignment of 1994 by moving three teams from the American League West and two teams from the American League East. Its teams are all located in the Midwestern United States. Along with the National League East, the AL Central is one of two divisions in the Major Leagues in which all of its members have won a World Series title. Jacob Seth Lugo (born November 17, 1989), nicknamed "Quarterrican", is an American professional baseball pitcher for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the New York Mets. Lugo made his MLB debut in 2016 with the Mets. He played for the Puerto Rican national baseball team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic winning a silver medal. Career Amateur career Lugo attended Parkway High School in Bossier City, Louisiana, and Centenary College of Louisiana, where he played college baseball for the Centenary Gentlemen. In three seasons with Centenary, Lugo had a 5.31 earned run average (ERA). Minor leagues The New York Mets selected him in the 34th round, with the 1,032nd overall selection, of the 2011 MLB draft. Brady Alan Singer (born August 4, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2020. Early years Singer first attended Tavares High School in Tavares, Florida, helping the 2012 THS baseball team win its first district championship in 24 years. Singer later transferred to nearby Eustis High School in Eustis, Florida, where as a senior he went 8–3 with a 1.25 earned run average (ERA) and 110 strikeouts in 67 innings. James Griffin Jax (born November 22, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Minnesota Twins of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2021. He is also an officer in the United States Air Force Reserve. Amateur career Jax attended Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, Colorado. In 2013, his senior year, he went 7–1 with a 1.74 ERA and was named Colorado's Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year. Cole Gatlin Ragans (born December 12, 1997) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Texas Rangers. Amateur career Ragans attended North Florida Christian High School in Tallahassee, Florida. Pablo José López Serra (born March 7, 1996) is a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2018 Early life López was raised in Venezuela by his father, Danny, and his mother, Agnedis, both of whom were doctors. López graduated high school at age 16, where he became fluent in English, Italian and Portuguese, and was then accepted into medical school.
