2024 Japan Open
The 2024 Japan Open (officially known as the Daihatsu Japan Open 2024) was a badminton tournament which took place at Yokohama Arena in Yokohama, Japan, from 20 August to 25 August 2024 and had a total purse of $850,000. Tournament The 2024 Japan Open was the twenty-first tournament of the 2024 BWF World Tour and also part of the Japan Open championships, which had been held since 1977. This tournament was organized by the Nippon Badminton Association with sanction from the BWF. Venue This international tournament was held at Yokohama Arena in Yokohama, Japan. Yokohama Arena
is an indoor arena located in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. The capacity of the arena is 17,000 and was opened in 1989. The arena was modeled after US sports venue Madison Square Garden in New York City. It is a five-minute walk from the closest station, Shin-Yokohama Station on the Japan Railways Group, JR/Yokohama Municipal Subway. As one of the largest concert venues in the Kantō region, it is a frequent location for artists to end their tours. The spacious stage allows for more complex set design and lighting, but the reasonable size makes it easier to sell out than the Tokyo Dome. History The Yokohama Arena was opened on April 1, 1989. At the exact day was held the opening celebration concert where performed renowned Japanese singer-songwriter Yumi Matsutoya, and the three upcoming days were additional dates of her concert tour. BWF World Tour Super 750
The BWF World Tour is a Badminton World Federation#Grade 2, Grade 2 badminton tournament series, sanctioned by Badminton World Federation (BWF). It is a competition open to the top world ranked players in singles (men's and women's) and doubles (men's, women's and mixed). The competition was announced on 19 March 2017 and came into effect starting from 2018 BWF World Tour schedule, 2018, replacing the BWF Super Series, which was held from 2007 to 2017. The BWF World Tour are divided into six levels, namely World Tour Finals, Super 1000, Super 750, Super 500, and Super 300 in order (part of the HSBC World Tour). One other category of tournament, the BWF Tour Super 100 level, also offers ranking points. Anthony Sinisuka Ginting
Anthony Sinisuka Ginting (; born 20 October 1996) is an Indonesian badminton player. He first rose to senior prominence when he won the bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games, having won a 2014 Youth Olympic bronze in 2014. At the 2020 Olympics, he won bronze in the men's singles event, becoming the first Youth Olympic badminton medalist to win a medal at the Olympics. Ginting was part of Indonesia's winning team at the 2020 Thomas Cup. Early life Ginting was born in Cimahi to parents Edison Ginting and Lucia Sriati. He is of Karo descent. Ginting is a Christian. He first learned badminton in kindergarten from his father, who also brought him to practice more intensely after he started winning local tournaments at the age of 9. As a child, he joined PB SGS PLN in Bandung, West Java, a badminton club that fostered Indonesian badminton legend Taufik Hidayat. Koki Watanabe
is a Japanese badminton player. He graduated from the Saitama Sakae High School, and was part of the BIPROGY team since 2017. Watanabe has won a Super 500 title at the Canada Open and was the runner-up in the Super 750 at the Denmark Open. Career Watanabe started his badminton career when he was four years old, entered the badminton club under the influence of his sister. He later concentrate his badminton career in the kindergarten, and when he was in the elementary school, he won the Saitama school championships in third consecutive years. Watanabe entered the Saitamasakaechugakko Koto school, and won the singles title at the national junior championships, also placed third in the doubles event. He was part of the national junior team that competed at the 2015 and 2016 Asia and World Junior Championships, winning the World boys' singles bronze medal in 2015, he also helped the national team win the 2015, 2016 Asian, also 2016 World Junior bronze medals. Lin Chun-yi (badminton)
Lin Chun-yi (; born 2 October 1999) is a badminton player from Taiwan, representing Chinese Taipei. Career 2023 In February 2023, Lin reached the final of Thailand Masters by defeating the former World No. 2 men's singles Chinese player, Shi Yuqi in the semi-finals. He defeated the 4th seed and World No. 18 men's singles Hong Kong player Ng Ka Long in the final to win his second BWF World Tour title.
