Qatar
Qatar, officially the State of Qatar, is a country in West Asia. It occupies the Geography of Qatar, Qatar Peninsula on the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in the Middle East; it shares Qatar–Saudi Arabia border, its sole land border with Saudi Arabia to the south, with the rest of its territory surrounded by the Persian Gulf. The Gulf of Bahrain, an inlet of the Persian Gulf, separates Qatar from nearby Bahrain. The capital is Doha, home to over 80% of the country's inhabitants. Most of the land area is made up of flat, low-lying desert. Qatar has been ruled as a hereditary monarchy by the House of Thani since Mohammed bin Thani signed an agreement with Britain in 1868 that recognised its separate status. Consultative Assembly Of Qatar
The Consultative Assembly (; also known as the Shura Council) is the unicameral legislative body of the State of Qatar. As of the 2021 Qatari general election, last election, it consists of 45 members, made up of 30 elected representatives and 15 appointees of the Emir of Qatar, Emir. The body can call a Motion of no confidence, vote of no confidence against the appointed Prime Minister, though this requires a Supermajority#Two-thirds, two-thirds supermajority, which is also necessary to oppose legislative action carried out by the Prime Minister. Constitutional role The Council was formed in April 1972 with 20 appointed members. In May 1972, the first consultative assembly meeting was held, during which Sayed Aziz bin Khalid Al Ghanim was elected as the assembly's first chairman. The 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup was the 6th edition of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup (previously the AFC U-23 Championship before rebranding from 2021), the biennial international age-restricted football championship organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the men's under-23 national teams of Asia. The tournament was held in Qatar from 15 April to 3 May 2024. The tournament acted as the AFC qualifiers for the 2024 Summer Olympics men's football tournament in France. The top three teams of the tournament qualified for the Olympics as the AFC representatives, while the fourth-best team entered a single-elimination AFC–CAF play-off match. A total of 16 teams competed in the tournament. The 2024 World Aquatics Championships, the 21st edition of the World Aquatics Championships, were held in Doha, Qatar, from 2 to 18 February 2024. Originally scheduled to be held in November 2023, the championships were postponed until February 2024 in response to the rescheduling of the 20th edition of the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, from 2021 to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and then again to 14 to 30 July 2023 due to travel restrictions and safety measures in place in Japan.
