2024 Houston Dynamo FC Season
The 2024 Houston Dynamo season is the 19th season of the team's existence since joining Major League Soccer (MLS) prior to the 2006 season. The Dynamo made the playoffs in 2023 for the first time since 2017. The Dynamo will Compete in the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup after winning the 2023 U.S. Open Cup. 2024 is the second season under head coach Ben Olsen and the third season under GM Pat Onstad and technical director Asher Mendelsohn. Houston Dynamo FC (formerly officially, but still commonly, called the Houston Dynamo) is an American professional Association football, soccer club based in Houston. The Dynamo compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference (MLS), Western Conference. Established on December 15, 2005, the club was founded after their former owners relocated the San Jose Earthquakes' players and staff to Houston following the 2005 Major League Soccer season, 2005 season. For their first six seasons in Houston, the Dynamo were based at Robertson Stadium on the campus of the University of Houston. Andrew Tarbell
Andrew Tarbell (born October 7, 1993) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for Major League Soccer side Houston Dynamo. Career College Tarbell spent his entire college career at Clemson University. He started all 55 games during his four-year career with the Tigers and led them to an ACC Tournament title in 2014 and was named to the All-ACC First team. In 2015, Tarbell led the Tigers to the National Title game, where they lost to Stanford. He was also named to the all ACC First team and led the ACC with 84 saves. Professional Andrew Tarbell was drafted in the 8th position of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft by the San Jose Earthquakes. Tarbell signed a Generation Adidas contract with the Earthquakes. Tate Schmitt
Tate Matthew Schmitt (born May 28, 1997) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a defender for Major League Soccer club Houston Dynamo. Career Youth, college, and amateur Schmitt played two seasons at Desert Vista High School prior to joining the Real Salt Lake Arizona academy. Schmitt played four years of college soccer at the University of Louisville between 2015 and 2018, scoring 26 goals and tallying 17 assists in 80 appearances. LA Galaxy, also known as the Los Angeles Galaxy, are an American professional soccer club based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Daniel Steres (born November 11, 1990) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a defender for Major League Soccer club Houston Dynamo. He was USL-Pro All-League Second Team in 2013 and 2014, USL All-League First Team in 2015, and LA Galaxy II Defender of the Year in 2014 and 2015. Generation Adidas is a joint venture between Major League Soccer and U.S. Soccer aimed at raising the level of young professional soccer talent in the United States. The program, sponsored by Adidas, offers professional-ready players in the U.S. developmental system not yet eligible for the MLS SuperDraft early entry, allowing MLS to compete with foreign professional clubs without comparable restrictions on player signing. Bradley Shaun Smith (born 9 April 1994) is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a left-back or winger for Houston Dynamo and the Australia national team. Born in Sydney, Smith moved to England to play youth football for Liverpool as a teenager, eventually making his professional debut for the side in 2013. Franco Nicolás Escobar (born 21 February 1995) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a right-back for Major League Soccer club Houston Dynamo. Club career Newell's Old Boys Escobar began his career in the Newell's Old Boys academy. He made his first team debut on 7 June 2015, getting the start against Boca Juniors in a 4–0 loss.
