GSS Coding System
GSS codes are nine-character geocodes maintained by the United Kingdom's Office for National Statistics (ONS) to represent a wide range of geographical areas of the UK, for use in tabulating census and other statistical data. GSS refers to the Government Statistical Service of which ONS is part. GSS codes replaced a previous system called ONS codes from January 2011. 1964 London Local Elections
The 1964 London local elections were held on 7 May 1964 alongside nationwide elections. They were the inaugural elections for the thirty-two London boroughs, which were created on 1 April 1965 by the London Government Act 1963. All seats were up for election, with polling stations open between 08:00 and 21:00. The result was a landslide for the Labour Party, who won twenty of the boroughs. The Conservatives won nine, and three were under no overall control. Only sixteen Liberal councillors were elected in London, along with forty-nine residents and ratepayers candidates, three independents and three Communists. The result followed the convincing Labour gain of the new Greater London Council in the first GLC elections which had been held on 9 April. Gregory James Stafford is a British Conservative Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Farnham and Bordon since 2024. He is a member of the Health and Social Care Select Committee and an Opposition Assistant Whip. Stafford served as councillor in the London Borough of Ealing from 2007 to 2024, and was both leader of the Conservatives group and Leader of the Opposition from 2014 until 2022. 2022 Ealing London Borough Council Election
The 2022 Ealing London Borough Council election took place on 5 May 2022, under new election boundaries, which increased the number of Ealing London Borough Council councillors to 70. The elections took place alongside local elections in the other London boroughs and elections to local authorities across the United Kingdom. The Labour Party maintained its control of the council, winning 59 out of the 70 seats with the Liberal Democrats forming the primary opposition with six of the remaining seats, a role the party takes from the Conservative Party who were elected to the council with five seats, three fewer than they won in 2018.
