2024 European Parliament Election In Poland
The 2024 European Parliament election in Poland was held on 9 June 2024 as part of the 2024 European Parliament election. This was the first to take place after Brexit. The elections were won by the Civic Coalition (Poland), Civic Coalition, the largest governing bloc. Together with its coalition partners Third Way (Poland), Third Way and The Left (Poland), The Left, the 15 October Coalition, ruling coalition won a combined majority of votes and seats. This was the first nationwide election in Poland since the 2014 European Parliament election in Poland, 2014 European Parliament election in which the Law and Justice party did not come first, though it had recently lost power in the 2023 Polish parliamentary election when then-opposition parties won a combined majority. Non-attached members, also known by the French term (, NI), are members of the European Parliament (MEPs) who do not belong to one of the recognised political groups, which as May 2025 consisted of 8 groups ranging between far-left and far-right in their political positions. These MEPs may be members of a national party, or of a European political party; however, for a political grouping to be formed in the European Parliament there need to be 23 MEPs from seven countries. Being part of a group grants access to state funds and committee seats, but the group members must be ideologically tied. The 2024 European Parliament election was held in the European Union (EU) between 6 and 9 June 2024. It was the tenth Elections to the European Parliament, parliamentary election since the 1979 European Parliament election, first direct elections in 1979, and the first European Parliament election after Brexit. Spring () was a social democratic and pro-European political party in Poland led by a former mayor of Słupsk, Robert Biedroń. It merged with Democratic Left Alliance and created New Left. History The party was founded on 3 February 2019 in Hala Torwar and ran in the 2019 European elections, winning three seats. For the 2019 parliamentary election, the party formed a coalition with the Democratic Left Alliance and Razem, known as The Left, winning 19 seats in the Sejm. The party was set to merge with the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) into a unitary party called the New Left in 2021. Robert Biedroń
Robert Biedroń (; born 13 April 1976) is a Polish politician, former mayor of Słupsk, and LGBT activist who has been serving as a Member of the European Parliament since 2019. He is the Chair of the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) in the European Parliament. Biedroń was a member of the Sejm during its 7th session (2011–2014). He's also a former member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe. He was the mayor of Słupsk from 2014 to 2018.
