2024 Copa Ecuador
The 2024 Copa Ecuador (officially known as the Copa Ecuador DirecTV PlayGreen 2024 for sponsorship purposes) was the fourth edition of the Copa Ecuador, Ecuador's domestic football cup. It began on 19 June 2024 and ended with the single-match final on 27 November 2024. El Nacional won their second Copa Ecuador title in this edition, defeating the defending champions Independiente del Valle 1–0 in the final. As Copa Ecuador champions, El Nacional qualified for the 2025 Copa Libertadores. Format For this season, the competition was played as a single knockout tournament, unlike the previous season in which a semifinal group was implemented, and was divided into four stages. Independiente Del Valle
Club de Alto Rendimiento Especializado Independiente del Valle, known simply as Independiente del Valle, is a professional football club based in Sangolquí Ecuador that currently plays in the Ecuadorian Serie A. Founded in 1958, the club plays its home games at Estadio Banco Guayaquil, which opened in March 2021 and has a capacity of 12,000. In the 2013 Serie A season Independiente finished runners-up and they won their first league title in 2021. In CONMEBOL competitions they reached the final of the 2016 Copa Libertadores after famously defeating powerhouses River Plate and Boca Juniors.
