2024 California Proposition 2
Proposition 2, titled Authorizing Bonds for Public Schools and Community College Facilities, was a California ballot proposition and legislative statutes that passed in the 2024 general election on November 5, 2024. The proposition authorized the issuance of $10 billion in state general obligation bonds for repair, upgrade, and construction of facilities at K–12 public schools and community colleges; this also includes charter schools throughout the state of California. The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association is a California-based nonprofit lobbying and policy organization that advocates for Proposition 13 and Proposition 218. Officially nonpartisan, the organization also advocates against raising taxes in California. History Following the passage of Proposition 13 in June 1978, anti-tax activist Howard Jarvis founded an organization called the California Tax Reduction Movement. The goals of this organization were to protect Proposition 13 and further the " taxpayer revolt." The Peace and Freedom Party (PFP) is a socialist political party in the United States which operates mostly in California. It was formed in 1966 from anti–Vietnam War and pro–civil rights movements.
