2024 CONCACAF U-20 Championship
The 2024 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship was the 8th edition of the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship (29th edition if all eras included), the men's under-20 international association football, football tournament organized by CONCACAF. It was held in Mexico from 18 July to 4 August 2024. The tournament featured a reduction in the number of participating teams following the format changes adopted by CONCACAF in February 2023. It was contested by 12 teams instead of the 20 that participated in previous editions. Same as previous editions, the tournament acted as the CONCACAF qualifiers for the FIFA U-20 World Cup. The top four teams of the tournament (the four semi-finalists) qualified for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile as the CONCACAF representatives. Santiago López (soccer, Born 2005)
Santiago López López (born 10 June 2005) is a professional Association football, soccer player who plays as a forward (association football), forward for Club Universidad Nacional, UNAM in Liga MX. Born in Mexico, he is a youth international for Canada. Early life Born in Morelia, Mexico, López lived in Canada from 2009 to 2015, when his parents moved for work, before then returning to Mexico. In Canada, he played with Oakville SC. López joined the youth academy of Club Universidad Nacional, UNAM in 2019 at the age of 13. United States Men's National Under-20 Soccer Team
The United States U-20 men's national soccer team is controlled by the United States Soccer Federation. The highest level of competition in which the team competes is the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which is held every two years. The United States' best finish came in the 1989 FIFA World Youth Championship, when the U.S. beat Iraq in the quarterfinal before losing to Nigeria in overtime in the semifinal and Brazil in the third-place match. Steve Snow tied for second in the tournament with three goals. The U.S. reached the quarterfinals in 1993 but lost to Brazil. After missing out in 1995, the U.S. began a run of six consecutive qualifications in 1997, reaching the second round in five consecutive tournaments.
