2024 Bathurst 1000
The 2024 Bathurst 1000 (known commercially as the 2024 Repco Bathurst 1000 for commercial reasons) is an upcoming motor racing event for Supercars held on the week of 10 to 13 October 2024. It will host the tenth round of the 2024 Supercars Championship and will take place at the Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia, featuring a single race of 1000 kilometres. Ryan Wood (born 4 December 2003) is a New Zealand racing driver from Wellington, New Zealand. He is currently competing in the Supercars Championship with Walkinshaw Andretti United, driving the No. 2 Ford Mustang GT. Racing career Super2 Series After a strong season in the Porsche Sprint Challenge the year prior, Ryan was offered a seat with Walkinshaw Andretti United for the 2023 Super2 Series, he would be racing in the #2 Holden Commodore ZB. The season started in Newcastle with Ryan finishing a respectable 8th place. For Race 2 of the weekend, Ryan qualified the #2 WAU Holden on Pole Position. The Chiko Roll is an Australian savoury snack invented by Frank McEncroe, inspired by the Chinese cuisine, Chinese spring roll and first sold in 1951 as the "Chicken Roll" despite not actually containing chicken. Erebus Motorsport, (formerly known as Erebus Racing,) is an Australian motor racing team. The team competes in the Supercars Championship with two Holden ZB Commodores. The 2022 Super2 & Super3 Series was an Australian motor racing competition for Supercars as a support series. Peter Gerard McLeod (born 6 May 1948 in Newcastle, New South Wales) is a retired Australian racing driver, best known as co-winner of the 1987 James Hardie 1000 at Bathurst, and for driving the distinctive yellow and black Slick 50 Mazda RX-7 Group C touring car during the early to mid-1980s. Group C Touring Cars McLeod began his racing career in 1980 at the relatively old age of 32, progressing immediately into touring car racing where in just three seasons to become one of Australia's fastest privately entered touring car racers, and the fastest Mazda RX-7's behind Allan Moffat's factory supported team (though with reportedly more horsepower than Moffat's cars). The 1987 James Hardie 1000 was an endurance race for Group A Touring Cars, staged on 4 October 1987 at the Mount Panorama Circuit, near Bathurst, in New South Wales, Australia. The race was the eighth round of the inaugural World Touring Car Championship, and was the 28th in a sequence of Bathurst 1000 races, commencing with the 1960 Armstrong 500 held at Phillip Island. The race was shortened from 163 laps to 161 for 1987, when the track was slightly lengthened by the addition of the Caltex Chase, a chicane which was built in response to the death of Mike Burgmann in an accident during the previous year's race.
