2024 Bahrain Darts Masters
The 2024 Bahrain Darts Masters was the second staging of the tournament by the Professional Darts Corporation. It was the first event in the season's World Series of Darts. The tournament featured 16 players (8 PDC representatives and 8 Asian representatives), and was held at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, Bahrain, from 18–19 January 2024. Michael Smith was the defending champion, having defeated 8–6 in the 2023 final. However, he lost 7–6 to Michael van Gerwen in the semi-finals. On 19 January, two days before his 17th birthday, Luke Littler became the youngest player to hit a televised nine-dart finish, achieving the feat in the first leg of his 6–3 quarter-final win over Nathan Aspinall. Bahrain International Circuit
The Bahrain International Circuit ( ar, حلبة البحرين الدولية, Ḥalba al-Baḥrayn ad-Dawliyya) is a motorsport venue opened in 2004 and used for drag racing, GP2 Series (now FIA Formula 2), and the annual Formula One Bahrain Grand Prix. The 2004 Grand Prix was the first held in the Middle East. Beginning in 2006, Australian V8 Supercars raced at the BIC, with the event known as the Desert 400. However, the V8 Supercars did not return for the 2011 V8 Supercar season. 24 Hour endurance races are also hosted at BIC. The circuit has a FIA Grade 1 license. The circuit also has multiple layouts. Nine-dart Finish
A nine-dart finish, also known as a nine-darter, is a perfect leg or single game in the sport of darts. The object of the game is to score a set number of points, most commonly 501; in order to win, a player must reach the target total exactly and hit a double scoring area with their last dart. When the target is 501, the minimum number of darts needed to reach it is nine. For example, one way to achieve a nine-dart finish is to score 60 (triple 20) on each of the first seven throws, then a 57 (triple 19) on the eighth, and lastly a 24 (double 12) on the ninth. It is regarded as an extremely difficult feat to achieve even for the sport's top players, and is considered the highest single-game achievement in the sport, similar to a maximum 147 break in snooker or a 300-point game in bowling. Christian "Ian" Perez (born 17 January 1982) is a Filipino professional darts player. Career In October 2009, Perez reached the final of the Shanghai International Darts Open, losing 10–4 to John Part. He later qualified for the 2010 PDC World Darts Championship where he defeated Denmark's Per Laursen 4–3 in the preliminary round. In the first round against Robert Thornton, Perez won the first set, but eventually lost 3–1. Perez again qualified for the PDC World Championship in 2012 after defeating Bobong Gabiana in the final of the Philippines qualifier. Philip Douglas Taylor (born 13 August 1960) is an English former professional darts player, widely considered the greatest darts player of all time. 2007 Masters Of Darts
The 2007 Keukenconcurrent Masters of Darts was the second staging of a Dutch darts tournament featuring five top Dutch and five top English players. The event witnessed a nine dart finish by Dutch teenager Michael van Gerwen, who became the youngest player to achieve the feat on television. Although the English players won the majority of the matches to clinch the team tournament 15–10, the singles title was won by a Dutchman, Raymond van Barneveld. Sponsor and venue The tournament was sponsored by Keukenconcurrent, a Dutch kitchen manufacturing company – who also sponsored many of the top Dutch players. Nathan Aspinall (born 15 July 1991) is an English professional darts player currently playing in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He won the 2019 UK Open with a 170 checkout in the final leg against former World Champion Rob Cross. Career Aspinall began playing in PDC Development and Challenge Tour events in 2012. His first semi-final in those came in 2013, where he lost 4–2 to Max Hopp. He won a two-year PDC Tour Card in 2015 through the Q School Order of Merit and qualified for the UK Open, where he beat Chris Dobey 5–1 and James Richardson 9–4, before losing 4–9 to James Wade in the fourth round. Luke Littler
Luke Littler (born 21 January 2007) is an English professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is the current PDC World Youth Champion, and the current Bahrain Masters Champion, and is the youngest player to have won a match in the WDF World Darts Championship, and PDC World Darts Championship. He is also the youngest player to reach the PDC World Darts Championship final, aged 16 years, and the youngest ever player to hit a televised nine darter at the 2024 Bahrain Darts Masters aged 16. Michael van Gerwen (; born 25 April 1989) is a Dutch professional darts player. He is currently PDC Order of Merit, ranked number 3 in the world, having been number 1 from 2014 to 2021.
