2024 Ankara Mayoral Election
Mayoral elections were held in the Turkish province of Ankara as part of nationwide local elections on 31 March 2024. A total of 26 mayors, one for each of the 25 districts of Ankara and one for the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, were elected. The results were a landslide victory for the incumbent mayor Mansur Yavaş, the candidate of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), who was re-elected with 60.4% of the vote. The Government candidate was Turgut Altınok of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party), who was the incumbent district mayor of Keçiören. Peoples' Equality And Democracy Party
The Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party ( ku, Partiya Wekhevî û Demokrasiya Gelan; tr, Halkların Eşitlik ve Demokrasi Partisi, abbreviated as DEM Party) is a pro- Kurdish political party in Turkey. The Communist Movement of Turkey ( tr, Türkiye Komünist Hareketi, TKH) is a communist party in Turkey. The TKH was split from the People's Communist Party of Turkey in 2015, which was split from the Communist Party of Turkey in 2014. The TKH is one of the components in the United June Movement, a political coalition initiative which was founded after Gezi Park revolt. History 1985–1999 The DSP, a social-democratic oriented party, was registered on 14 November 1985 by Rahşan Ecevit, wife of Bülent Ecevit, as he was banned from political life after the 1980 coup d'état. The Motherland Party ( tr, Anavatan Partisi, abbreviated as ANAVATAN, formerly ANAP) is a political party in Turkey. It was founded in 1983 by Turgut Özal. The Homeland Party ( tr, Memleket Partisi) is a political party in Turkey that was founded on 17 May 2021 by Muharrem İnce, the former candidate of the Republican People's Party (CHP) in the 2018 presidential elections.
