2023–24 Sunshine Tour
The 2023–24 Sunshine Tour was the 53rd season of the Sunshine Tour (formerly the Southern Africa Tour), the main professional golf tour in South Africa since it was formed in 1971. Changes for 2023–24 The full 2023–24 schedule was announced in May 2023 and was originally intended to have 32 tournaments, and include co-sanctioned tournaments with the European Tour and Challenge Tour. Notably, the Zanaco Masters returned to the schedule, having not been played on the Sunshine Tour since 2019. In May 2023, the Sunshine Tour announced that the Order of Merit had gained a new title sponsor, having previously been titled as the Luno Order of Merit, it was rebranded as the Order of Merit delivered by The Courier Guy. Dean Burmester
Dean Burmester (born 2 June 1989) is a South African professional golfer who plays in the LIV Golf League, as well as having status on the European Tour and Sunshine Tour. He formerly played on the PGA Tour. Early life Burmester was born in Mutare, Zimbabwe but represents South Africa in golf. His father, Mark Burmester, played international cricket for Zimbabwe while his mother Michelle holds (as of 2022) the women's course record at Royal Harare Golf Club, his home course. His cousin, Ryan, is a South African Spearfishing Champion having represented KZN and South Africa at CMAS World and EuroAfrica Zone Championship. Professional career Burmester's first notable win came at the 2015 Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open. He also won the 2017 Tshwane Open which was a co-sanctioned Sunshine Tour and European Tour event. Malcolm Jarod Mitchell (born July 20, 1993) is an American author, poet, and former professional football player. He played as a wide receiver for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). Mitchell played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs. He was selected by New England in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL draft. He won an NFL title with the Patriots, winning Super Bowl LI. His NFL career lasted only two years due to knee injuries. Jacques Kruyswijk (born 16 October 1992) is a South African professional golfer who plays on the European Tour and Sunshine Tour. He won the 2016 Cape Town Open. Amateur career Kruyswijk enjoyed a stellar career as an amateur and won the Royal Silver Vase in 2011. He represented Limpopo Province between 2005 and 2012. Peter Karmis
Peter Karmis (born 10 June 1981) is a Greek-South African professional golfer. Since July 2018, he has played under the Greek flag. In 2009 he became the first player in Sunshine Tour history to record a round of 59. Career Karmis played college golf at Purdue University. Karmis plays on the Sunshine Tour where he has won five times. He won the Lombard Insurance Classic in 2007 and 2009, the Sun Sibaya Challenge in 2016.
